We are excited to announce the 16th annual YOUNG MATHEMATICIANS CONFERENCE (YMC) at The Ohio State University, August 9 - 11, 2019 (Fri-Sun). Information about this year''s conference has been posted and will be updated at https://ymc.osu.edu/
# ABOUT YMC 2019
YMC is an annual conference for undergraduate research in mathematics for students in REUs and similar programs around the country. Successful applicants are invited /with full travel support/ to present their research and interact with peer and senior participants. Invitations to YMC are competitive due to limited space and budget. We expect to invite and fully support around seventy student presenters, and hope to be able to provide partial support for accompanying mentors who are also invited to apply.
# APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN
In order to apply please visit https://ymc.math.osu.edu/2019/apply.php, and carefully follow all instructions. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the applicant resources in order to improve their submitted abstracts. The deadline for applications is Wednesday July 10th at 5:00pm Eastern. The review of applications by a 30+ member panel of mathematics faculty will start immediately after this deadline. We expect to make decisions on the bulk of invitations by the end of the same week.
# SPECIAL EVENTS
Besides the student presentations, we are delighted to have the following distinguished speakers to deliver plenary talks at YMC 2019:
Moon Duchin (Tufts University)
Sam Payne (University of Texas at Austin)
Tatiana Toro (University of Washington)
As in previous years we will have our "Graduate School Orientation" event with invited representatives from several different US graduate programs in mathematics including: Ohio State, UIUC, and the University of Cincinnati. At this popular venue questions ranging from choices of schools, nuts and bolts of applications, and what life is like as a grad student are discussed. As usual, we will provide many opportunities for interaction between junior and senior conference participants.
# JUDGING
Applications will be judged and scored right after the submission deadline by a panel of approximately 25 mathematics faculty so that we expect most decisions to be available in the week following the deadline. More info on the selection process, including tips for
writing abstracts, is available during the application process.
## Judges Wanted
If you are interested in undergraduate research, hold a mathematics Ph.D. (preferably faculty position), have 5 or so hours'' time and internet access in the days following the deadline, and would like to help with judging please email us at ymc@math.osu.edu. The conference is supported by NSF Grant DMS-1550117, Ohio State Department of Mathematics, Ohio State Mathematical Research Institute and the College of Arts and Sciences.

注意事项
1、严重的贫血、高血压、心脑血管疾病的患者，不适宜到高原地区旅游。针对严重感冒患者，建议在出发前将感冒治好后再进藏。感冒患者由于自身身体机能被破坏，抗病能力减弱，又增加自身的抵抗能力负荷，带着严重的感冒进藏极易转为其他高原病，特别是肺水肿，不及时治疗很容易有生命危险。
2、如果你从未进过高原，在进入高原之前，一定要进行严格的体格检查，如发现心，肺，脑，肝，肾的病变，严重贫血或高血压病人，请勿盲目进入高原。如果你只患有一般疾病，也必须预先采取必要的预防措施。
3、凡有传染性疾病、心血管疾病、脑血管疾病、呼吸系统疾病、精神病、严重贫血病、大中型手术的恢复期病患者、行动不便者、孕妇等，以及其他不适合出行者，请不要报名。代他人报名者也请核实代报人的身体状况。如果报名者或者代他人报名者隐瞒身体状况，造成的后果由自己承担；
4、本行程为高原行程，高原地区气候干燥，日照强烈，紫外线强，建议客人带好墨镜、太阳帽、防晒霜、润唇膏等物品；高原地区早晚温差大，请客人准备长袖衣裤及防寒衣物，另外建议携带感冒药、肠胃药、阿斯匹林、安定、头痛粉等药品，以防高原反应引起的身体不适；
5、进藏前2-3天需要有良好的睡眠，不可过度熬夜，以免增加抵达西藏的不适。有心理负担的、处于亚健康或有暗疾的、或者进藏后有不适情况的，请前往医院就医；
6、因西藏线路行车时间较长，建议准备一些类如巧克力、牛肉干的食品备用；
7、进藏当天需要在宾馆静心休息，晚上尽量不要洗澡，以免感冒引起肺水肿或因缺氧加剧高原反应。无不良反应的客人也应尽量不剧烈运动，不喝酒、抽烟，以保证后面的行程圆满完成。
重要提示
1、请尊重当地的饮食习惯、习俗禁忌、宗教礼仪等，入乡随俗，融入当地的民风民情；
2、为了您人身、财产的安全，请您避免在公开场合暴露贵重物品及大量现金。上街时需时刻看管好首饰、相机等随身物品；
3、游泳、漂流、潜水、滑雪、溜冰、戏雪等活动项目，均存在危险。参与前请根据自身条件，并充分参考当地相关部门及其它专业机构的相关公告和建议后量力而行；
4、进藏必带证件类：边防证、驾驶证、行车证、身份证原件。
5、出发前给车做一次全面的保养及全套随车工具，好让自己的旅程顺利。
6、按照自己的身体条件带上一些内服药物。例如胃药、止泻药、感冒药之类的。预防或缓解高原反应可带西洋参片、高浓度葡萄糖液、头痛粉等。 |
