為期兩天的第二屆“中美文化論壇”１５日在美國加利福尼亞大學伯克利分校開幕。論壇舉行期間，中美雙方３０余名專家、學者和藝術家將就中美文化比較、中美文化交流等議題進行學術研討。
本屆“中美文化論壇”由中國文化部和美國國家人文基金會共同主辦。中國文化部副部長王文章、美國國家人文基金會主席詹姆斯•利奇出席論壇開幕式並致辭。
王文章說，本屆論壇以“跨文化雙邊對話”為主題，旨在從文化藝術的各個領域，全面回顧中美交流的歷史，探討兩國文化交流的現實路徑，展望中美文化關係發展的未來，通過多途徑文化交流，增進中美兩國在社會文化和科學技術領域中的交流與合作，從而推動文化的多樣化協調發展，開闢中美文化交流與合作的新境界。他指出，舉行“中美文化論壇”，標誌著中美兩國文化交流與合作正在不斷深化。
利奇表示，文化交流以及對彼此文化的尊重具有重要意義。他說，如果沒有文化上的尊重，國與國之間將無法保持良好關係。
在開幕式後，中美兩國學者等圍繞中美文化關係的歷史、文學遺產和創造力等議題展開熱烈討論。
“中美文化論壇”是根據２００８年中國文化部同美國國家人文基金會簽署的《關於鼓勵人文學科學術性研究和文化遺產保護合作事宜的諒解備忘錄》而舉辦的。

Dear API Community Leaders:
California reaps tremendous economic and cultural benefits from its diversity and as Governor I would work to ensure my Administration mirrors that diversity and harnesses the strengths of all our state’s ethnic and cultural groups.
That includes, of course, seeking a broad array of people to serve on the bench, and I would be pleased if the Asian American community would be a partner with my Administration in identifying the high-quality candidates California deserves. Qualified API candidates will find equal opportunity in a Whitman Administration. That holds true with our schools as well, where I am committed to working with the API community to ensure highly-qualified API candidates, as well as others, will be identified and given opportunities for appointments.
I look forward to meeting with you early in my first term and my staff will also always be available to meet with you. Asian American contributions to California’s past, present and future are staggering. I along with other thoughtful Californians celebrate and recognize the API community as bedrock for our state’s prosperity, and I look forward to building A New California with you.

相親數學公式
設P為一個人外在和內在等條件的整體估值，即：P = {年齡、學歷、工作、收入、身高、容貌、健康、性格、才藝、閱歷、家族……}
如果P (A, B) - P ( A, A) 點V (A)
P (B, A) - P ( B, B) 點V (B)
當以上兩條件都成立時，雙方握手成交。
一般情況下，根據彼得原理，這些數值之間存在如下關係：
P (A, A) 點P (B, A)
P (B, B) 點P (A, B)
根據點點點點不等式，得到：
V (A) + V (B) 點 0 (V(x)是x所要求的最低溢價/折扣)。
這個相親公式猛一看非常艱深複雜，其實道理說白了十分簡單：
比如，甲男和乙女去相親，相過之後給對方和自己都打個分，甲男給別人打的分減去給自己打的分，差值如 果在他可承受範圍內，說明甲男相中了乙女。如果現時乙女也相中了甲男，那麼他倆就可以開始談了。但是根據彼得原理(注：彼得原理是管理學家勞倫斯•彼得 1960年提出的)，大多數人都是“寬以待己，嚴以律人”的，也就是說，我們的本能會給自己打分偏高，給別人打分偏低。
結論：要想相親成功，至少有一方必須放低要求，給出折扣……
