為落實美國國會於2009年所提之HR784決議案，美國國會圖書館將推出以「儒學為世界文化遺產」為主題的兩場論壇，將公元前500年開始影響中國，乃至影響現今世界文明的孔子和其儒家思想，介紹給華裔及主流社會。
HR784決議案由德州國會眾議員葛林（Al Green）發起，旨在慶祝孔子誕生2560年紀念及肯定孔子在哲學、社會及政治思想的貢獻，該決議案獲41位國會議員的支持。
國會圖書館亞洲部為落實此決議案，特地於紀念孔子誕辰的9月11及15日，聯合美華協會華府分會（OCA-DC）、海華社區活動中心及大華府祭孔大典委員會共同主辦兩場針對華裔與主流社會的大型活動。
11日（周六）活動自下午1時至下午5時30分，在亞洲部閱覽室（傑佛遜大樓LJ150室），主題為「儒學是中華文化的精華」，內容主要針對華裔社區。會中將由孔子第76代嫡孫孔令和演講「『孔子世家譜的歷史』編撰」；其女董愷悌現任電視新聞主播，亦將以「成長在孔教的環境裡」為題演講。
此外將有八佾舞的示範表演，以及華府書畫家毛戎談「欣賞古代中國文化：正體字的實際價值和藝術價值」、華裔學者邵耀成談「孔子這個人及永恆的影響」、史學家許倬雲將談「全球化時代下儒家思想與價值」。書法家王純傑將應邀做論語書法示範，現場也將展示儒學書籍。
15日（周三）活動在國會議員專用室舉行，主題為「儒學對世界的影響」，不對外開放。貴賓包括葛林、前美國勞工部長趙小蘭、台北駐美代表袁健生、美國在台協會前理事主席丁大衛、美國日裔國會眾議員本田、華裔國會眾議員趙美心、華府聞人陳香梅等，將就孔子的貢獻及其儒家思想對世界及華裔的影響發表演講。

近来，日本侵犯中国钓鱼岛主权、恣意扣押中国渔民及船只，并索以高额罚金的野蛮行径，令人愤慨。身为中国人，无论身在何地，都应该要强烈的表达对钓鱼岛的主权维护的决心。

Forget Sorrow - An Exhibition by Celebrated Author and Illustrator Belle Yang
September 9 – October 31, 2010
The exhibition presents illustrated works by Belle Yang, the subject of the CINE Golden Eagle award-winning PBS documentary, My Name is Belle. The selected works range from color illustrations from her children’s book Always Come Home to Me, a 2008 Best Children's Book awarded by Chinese American Librarians Association, to black and white illustrations from her most recent publication, Forget Sorrow: An Ancestral Tale, a graphic memoir.

Authors on Asia Belle Yang will discuss and sign several of her children's books and her new graphic memoir, Forget Sorrow: An Ancestral Tale. In her presentation, she will include additional images of her artwork not included in the exhibition.
