2010 World Expo (features nearly 200 nations) had its opening ceremony in my home city Shanghai (the Chinese massive and dazzling commercial capital) last weekend. It is a six-month event which displays uniquely designed lavish architectures, cutting edge state-of-the-art technologies (i.e. “zero carbon emissions” building) and showcases countries'''' spectacular culture and heritage in the structures, some also with the food, drink provided having the geographical characteristics (German, Irish and Belgium Beers... Australia, America, Bulgaria Steaks...). It is estimated over 70 million visitors will make the attendance and already there were almost half million had crowding into the World Expo for the first two days...this is an event not to miss because most of the pavilions are slated for removal or demolition after the Expo closes in Oct.
We are diverting from the past weeks badminton notices to this previous email chain about two years ago with the Sichuan earthquake and Beijing Olympics for the similarity of the earthquake occurred in YuShu, and comparing to the Beijing Olympics, the World Expo is going to rival in its extravagance, and most likely, to exceed in its long term business wide influence along with the short term economy stimulus.

咏 春 拳
一部《叶问》使咏春拳风靡全国乃至世界，人们纷纷为其奇妙的手法和精湛的技艺所折服。《叶问2》的上映再次吸引了广大影迷及功夫迷的眼球，博得阵阵喝彩和掌声的同时，也将掀起又一轮学习咏春拳的高潮。
咏春拳，中国拳术中南拳之一。其起源有3 种说法：一说是福建永春县严三娘创造，一说是由少林寺和尚至善从福建带到广州光孝寺，另一说是方永春所创造。
本次的主题沙龙，特邀来自美国、师承一代宗师叶问的黄勇麒（Ernie Wong）先生，带我们走进咏春拳的世界，感受一代宗师的中华武术之魂。

▎主讲人介绍
黄勇麒（Ernie Wong）先生在美国长大，从1993年开始接触功夫，先后学习过少林五形拳，空手道，合气道等拳种。在经历了长达10年的学习之后，于2003年秋，黄勇麒先生拜 Pete Pajil先生为师，开始全身心地研修咏春拳术。
Pete Pajil先生在美国曾做过20余年的狱警。Pete Pajil先生曾学习过太极拳及空手道，后又拜梅逸先生为师学习咏春拳，他认为咏春拳较其他拳种更适应于监狱里工作环境的需要。
梅逸(Moy Yat)先生师承叶问宗师，为叶问宗师的著名弟子之一。1973年移居美国纽约开始教授咏春拳。

咏春 (Yong Chun / Ving Tsun / Wing Chun) is a simple and effective martial arts system. The system does not rely on brute strength or a large number of techniques. It is based on scientific principles to maximize one’s potential. The most important of which, are to control the Centerline and maximize efficiency. The key to all of this is relaxation. All of these things sound simple enough but simple does not mean that it’s easy.
We usually call Ving Tsun a system because there are a number of principles in place that guide you through it. Principles apply to many situations and not against specific techniques. We try not to study techniques in Ving Tsun. If a martial art has too many techniques, when will you stop learning? How many techniques do you need to know to fight against all the other martial arts styles in the world? Even though we have a system in place, we only use it as a guideline. Once we learn and understand it, we can let it go.
Sigung(师公) Moy Yat(梅逸) said, “Kung fu without a system is not Kung fu. Kung fu dependent on a system is not good Kung fu.”
