Dr. Rajit Gadh, Professor at UCLA Saturday, December 12th - 10AM "Micro Grids and distributed energy resources within a smart Grid" Management Information Systems consist of databases which where large amounts of data from smart grid technology can be saved and analyzed to modernize the grid. Distributed energy resources including rooftop Solar PV, Electric Vehicles and Battery Energy Storage Systems are gradually increasing in the Distribution System. They collectively offer micro grid models that are distributed across the grid. Their local management and control becomes essential as local generation increases. Electric Vehicles and Battery energy storage systems enable buffering of the solar energy generation to assist the grid in stability. Local demand response control serves to change local loads in response to global conditions - and also stabilize the grid. These together constitute the next generation model of the Smart Grid of the future. |
