Book Talk: Ben Wang on Eileen Chang's Naked Earth One of the greatest and most loved of modern Chinese writers, Eileen Chang (张爱玲) illuminates the dark corners of the human existence with a style of disorienting beauty. Her late work Naked Earth (赤地之戀), originally commissioned as anti-Communist propaganda by the United States Information Service, is the story of two earnest young people confronting the grim realities of revolutionary change in the early years of Mao's China. Unavailable in English for more than fifty years, it is a harrowing tale of perverted ideals, damaged souls, deepest loneliness, and terror. At this event celebrating Naked Earth's publication by New York Review Books (the first time it has been published outside of Hong Kong), China Institute Senior Lecturer Ben Wang will speak about Chang's life, the unusual circumstances surrounding Naked Earth's writing, and the timeless precision of Chang's prose. The graduate group in Applied Math and Computational Science (AMCS) at Penn is looking for talented, ambitious students interested in the development and application of sophisticated mathematics and computational tools for problems of real world interest. Our highly interdisciplinary program draws its faculty from 10 departments at Penn and provides students with the opportunity to do mathematical research in a wide range of application fields, from materials science to image analysis, machine learning to population genetics, and beyond. 1. 同电相聚和正负电荷对偶聚集是正负电荷的基本物理属性,前者产生星球,后者产生星系、光子、核力、电磁作用力、轨道作用力、核外电子。它们共同作用的结果,可能使超导产生负损耗。超导产生的负损耗会使输电过程转化为发电过程:输电距离越远,电量增加越多。问题是常温超导几乎不能实现,输电过程中损耗的电量总是大于增加的电量。没有输电过程产生的负损耗,输电几乎不可能。
2. 化学元素形成和毁灭临界条件的思考 从氢气的燃点想到化学元素形成和毁灭的临界条件。所有化学元素的形成和毁灭都有临界条件,前者是聚变条件,后者是裂变条件。一定密度的光子是化学元素形成的必要条件,而光子密度等于环境温度,环境温度达到燃点又会导致特定化学元素的裂变,转化为光子。所以,成也萧何,败也萧何,了解所有化学元素聚变和裂变的临界温度非常重要。生物体是在特定的温度条件下形成的,似乎不具备核聚变、核裂变的温度条件,光合作用与相对的恒温是如何形成的呢?新陈代谢和复杂的化学反应是如何形成的呢?特定条件下的低温核聚变、核裂变应该是可能的。星球内部冷核聚变区域对光子和初级化学元素的需求可能产生接近绝对零度的环境温度,也是可能的。除了温度条件,压力环境也可能产生核聚变,从化学元素周期表知道没有简单化学元素,特别是增量质子、中子的补充,相对高端的化学元素是难以形成的。所以,星球内部存在相对高温和低温核聚变的对偶区域,及周期循环。
正负电荷聚变为光子,光子聚变为初级化学元素,可能有相对固定的比例,正反物质相等。表层多余偏电荷光子、相反初级化学元素可以转化为宇宙射线,星球内部的只有再次裂变重组才能消化,相对高温核聚变区域也有不同的温度区间才有可能。喷发也是一种出路,只能出现在表层,星球内部只有自我消化。灯泡所以发光是有光子产生,如果同时产生化学元素就会形成爆炸。玻壳的熔点低于或高于初级化学元素的聚变温度都可以避免爆炸发生。越是相对高端的化学元素裂变为光子越不容易,但是压力环境的改变可能导致相对高端化学元素的结构不稳定,产生自然裂变,这可能是所谓放射性的原因。压力环境可能是某些化学元素核聚变、核裂变的临界条件。化学元素的化合物形态可能改变核聚变、核裂变的临界条件,所以某些氢化物的燃点低于氢气的燃点。寻找燃点较低的化合物形态,可能是新能源的出路之一,包括相对高端化学元素的核裂变。物质能量转化守恒定律的发现为物理化学的发展开辟了新的天地,聚变能可能划上句号,而新能源将层出不穷。 |
