CHINA INSTITUTE 2015 SUMMER DAY PROGRAM
CHILDREN'S SUMMER DAY PROGRAM! (Ages 3-14)
Make your child's summer a fun-filled experience by enrolling in the Children's Summer Program at China Institute. Designed and tailored for different age groups ranging from 3 to 14, the Children's Summer Program offers instruction of Chinese language and culture in an exciting and interactive environment to students of all proficiency levels. Language instruction is led by experienced Chinese language teachers and centers upon exciting themes designed to inspire learning, participation and engagement. Additionally, children will participate in various cultural activities, such as calligraphy, Chinese sports, theater, arts and crafts, storytelling, and cooking. Friday field trips to many of New York City's cultural institutions will give your child a chance to enjoy the summer sun. Enrollment is on a first-come first-serve basis. Materials and snacks are included.

Recent Device Approvals: cobas KRAS Mutation Test
The FDA has recently approved the cobas KRAS Mutation Test, an automated molecular assay designed to detect the presence of mutations in the KRAS gene in colorectal cancer (CRC) tumor tissue. In normal tissue, the KRAS protein helps start or stop cell growth; mutations in the KRAS protein disrupt this regulated process.
Erbitux (cetuximab) and Vectibix (panitumumab) are cancer medicines used to treat patients with CRC that starts in the colon or rectum and spreads to other parts of the body. Mutations in the KRAS protein likely block the beneficial effect of Erbitux or Vectibix. If the cobas KRAS Mutation Test shows that a mutation is present in the CRC tumor tissue, then treatment with Erbitux or Vectibix is not recommended for the patient. If the cobas KRAS Mutation Test does not detect a mutation, then the patient may be eligible for treatment with Erbitux or Vectibix. The FDA has also approved the MAMMOMAT Inspiration with Tomosynthesis to be marketed. MAMMOMAT Inspiration with Tomosynthesis Option is a mammography device that produces 2D digital images as well as multiple cross-sectional images of the breast for the screening and diagnosis of breast cancer. Invitation to the Oxford Symposium on Religious Studies, 2015, at the Old Library in the Oxford University Church of St Mary
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Oxford Symposium on Religious Studies. You may register for the Summer Session (3, 4 & 5 August) or the Fall Session (7, 8 & 9 December). The meeting will be held at The Old Library in the Oxford University Church of St Mary. Constructed in 1320, The Old Library is the first university (as opposed to college) building in Oxford and therefore uniquely important; this is where the nascent University began.
The sessions will be hosted by Canon Brian Mountford, Vicar of St Mary’s. Dr. Mountford is a Fellow and Chaplain of St Hilda’s College in the University of Oxford.

Perhaps the two most significant business trends in the world today are the rise of the Chinese consumer and the rise of eCommerce. The China eCommerce market is now larger than the U.S. eCommerce market, fueled by rising affluence, online product availability, growing demand for Western products, and mobile commerce. This trend was brought into focus last year with the Alibaba IPO. It should be no surprise that leading U.S. brands such as Apple, Nike, and Levi's sell through Alibaba's platforms in China. Now smaller and new-to-market companies have the same opportunity. Topics to be covered will include. What lessons can we draw from this consumer revolution in China and how companies can use e-commerce to win in this fiercely competitive market?
What are the tools and strategies needed to sell online in China?
What are the challenges and pit-falls of China eCommerce?
About the Speaker
Frank Lavin is the CEO and founder of Export Now, a U.S. firm established in 2010 to operate e - commerce stores in China for foreign companies. Lavin is a long-time China hand and China e-Commerce pioneer and he will draw on his experience with Export Now as well as his background in China banking, trade negotiations, diplomacy. and market entry strategy to share techniques that companies can use to compete in China e-Commerce. Notably for USC, Lavin served as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the USA Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, for which USC ran the Student Ambassador program. In addition to his extensive private sector experience, Lavin was U.S. Ambassador to Singapore from 2001 to 2005 and Undersecretary of Commerce for Asia and the Pacific from 2005 to 2007.
