Invitation to the Oxford Symposium on Religious Studies, 2015, at the Old Library in the Oxford University Church of St Mary
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Oxford Symposium on Religious Studies. You may register for the Summer Session (3, 4 & 5 August) or the Fall Session (7, 8 & 9 December). The meeting will be held at The Old Library in the Oxford University Church of St Mary. Constructed in 1320, The Old Library is the first university (as opposed to college) building in Oxford and therefore uniquely important; this is where the nascent University began.
The sessions will be hosted by Canon Brian Mountford, Vicar of St Mary’s. Dr. Mountford is a Fellow and Chaplain of St Hilda’s College in the University of Oxford.

Perhaps the two most significant business trends in the world today are the rise of the Chinese consumer and the rise of eCommerce. The China eCommerce market is now larger than the U.S. eCommerce market, fueled by rising affluence, online product availability, growing demand for Western products, and mobile commerce. This trend was brought into focus last year with the Alibaba IPO. It should be no surprise that leading U.S. brands such as Apple, Nike, and Levi's sell through Alibaba's platforms in China. Now smaller and new-to-market companies have the same opportunity. Topics to be covered will include. What lessons can we draw from this consumer revolution in China and how companies can use e-commerce to win in this fiercely competitive market?
What are the tools and strategies needed to sell online in China?
What are the challenges and pit-falls of China eCommerce?
About the Speaker
Frank Lavin is the CEO and founder of Export Now, a U.S. firm established in 2010 to operate e - commerce stores in China for foreign companies. Lavin is a long-time China hand and China e-Commerce pioneer and he will draw on his experience with Export Now as well as his background in China banking, trade negotiations, diplomacy. and market entry strategy to share techniques that companies can use to compete in China e-Commerce. Notably for USC, Lavin served as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the USA Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, for which USC ran the Student Ambassador program. In addition to his extensive private sector experience, Lavin was U.S. Ambassador to Singapore from 2001 to 2005 and Undersecretary of Commerce for Asia and the Pacific from 2005 to 2007.

6月9日，是幫幫忙基金會 2015年最後的四個貨櫃到宏都拉斯，聖露西亜，巴拿馬，聖克里斯多福及尼維斯誠邀各大媒體屆時前來採訪。從去年12月份起，中華民國外交部 NGO 和 幫幫忙基金會，福智基金會合作人道援助與愛心貨櫃物資，幫幫忙基金會現已完成合作的工作。幫幫忙基金會在美國籌集的愛心物資，已送到拉丁美洲、南太平洋及非洲等國。包括現在的四個貨櫃，今年截至到現在幫幫忙已經發送了12個貨櫃。這些愛心物資對當地貧窮家庭的孩子，起到了相當大的幫助作用。幫幫忙基金會表示，在籌集到12貨櫃的愛心物資，並不容易，因為幫幫忙得到了社區,僑界和義工們的大力支持，才得以完成。 感謝十六年來愛心的廠商和義工的付出，現在幫幫忙基金會因為沒有倉儲了所以無法舊物質去收集整理.但廠商的新物資仍然可继绩收集。在當天的新聞發佈會現場，還將展示部分捐贈物品。此次捐贈主要是文具、玩具和包括足球鞋在內的體育用品,有關詳情可洽（310）350-7071; tina@simplyhelp.org |

3553.核裂变可能始于原子内部氚结构向氘结构的转变
分析历次核电站事故放射性污染物的成分，我发现初级核裂变中缺失的仅仅是原子核内的中子，这些缺失的中子或者转化氢同位素氕，或者裂变为光子，成为热能。氢、氦同位素是原子内部结构的基础单元，质子、中子对具有特殊意义，中子可能起到质子间相互链接，同时保持质子相对稳定的作用，所以质子、中子对结构很难裂变为光子，单质子结构的氢同位素氕成为化学元素中唯一的能源物质。
现代物理认为质子、中子对的形成源于胶子的存在，交换胶子形成所谓强作用力。我认为核力的形成源于正负电荷对偶聚集的物理属性，中子属于电中性物质，未必没有正负电荷对偶聚集形成的电磁作用力，形成所谓强作用力的同时遏制了质子向光子的裂变。质子、中子对的物质形态中最不稳定的是氚结构，即一个质子与两个中子的结合，所以氢同位素氚具有放射性，可以衰变为氦3。
越是相对高端的化学元素中子的数量越多，也就是内部结构中有较多的氚结构，达到一定程度，没有外部压力的束缚就会产生放射性衰变、裂变。核力的形成未必有物质的交流，即便存在物质的交流也不是交流光子、W子，而是形成磁力线的物质，例如正负单电荷。我对中子知之不多，不知道它为什么与质子成对存在，凭感觉它是形成相对高端原子必不可少的物质成分，是使质子结合在一起的胶子，核裂变可能始于原子内部结构中部分氚结构的衰变和崩溃。

Recent Device Approvals: ENROUTE Transcarotid Stent System

The FDA has recently approved the ENROUTE Transcarotid Stent System to be marketed. The system is used to re-open narrowed regions of the carotid arteries in the neck that supply blood to the brain. The implant consists of a self-expanding stent mounted on a delivery catheter system. The stent is made of nickel-titanium alloy (nitinol) tubing, laser-cut into a mesh shape. This stent is the same as a previously approved stent (Cordis PRECISE Nitinol Stent System), but the delivery catheter is shorter. This allows doctors to insert the delivery catheter directly into the neck, instead of passing it through the blood vessel in the groin up to the blocked area in the neck. The ENROUTE Transcarotid Stent System is used with a protection device (ENROUTE Transcarotid Neuroprotection System, also referred to as ENROUTE TNS) that temporarily reverses blood flow at the treatment site to divert particles that may become loose during the procedure from potentially traveling to the brain.

The FDA recently approved the Senza Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) System to be marketed. This is an implanted, rechargeable spinal cord stimulation system for the treatment of chronic pain of the trunk and/or limbs that is difficult to manage (intractable). The main components include an implanted signal generator that is connected to one or two implanted leads, and external doctor and patient controllers.

The FDA recently approved the STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser System and iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio System to be marketed. The STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser System (Laser System) and iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio System (iDesign System) reduces or eliminates nearsightedness (myopia) and/or astigmatism (a refractive error in which the eye focuses light rays more strongly in one direction than another). In addition to the laser itself, the Laser System includes an eyetracker that keeps the laser pulses correctly positioned on the cornea when the eye moves. The iDesign System includes an aberrometer that measures and records the power of the eye as well as the size and position of the pupil; a corneal topographer that measures the shape of the cornea; and treatment planning software that converts the data from the aberrometer into detailed instructions for the excimer laser treatment. |
