我和方舟子认识14年，在同一屋檐下生活了两年，朝夕相处，可以谬称知己了。方舟子有两个，网上的和网下的。网上的方舟子，锋芒毕露，谁犯到他剑下，必死无疑；网下的方舟子，温文尔雅，谦逊随和。网上的舟子，尽人皆知。网下的舟子，对很多人却是一个谜。我给大家讲讲日常生活中的方舟子。
方舟子是美食家，食不厌精，对海鲜情有独钟。拿手菜是清蒸鱼，我们一起聚餐，一定贡献一盘，总是第一个被吃光。舟子对红酒有研究。在外面聚会，滴酒不沾，但在家里每天享用红酒一杯。有一种酒叫 Charles Show，物美价廉，他喝得津津有味。舟子精通茶道。每天吃完晚饭，摆开他的精致功夫茶具，上好的铁观音，精工细作，一丝不苟。沏好后，请同屋人入座，小茶盅一人一杯，打开电视，边品茶边看PBS。有时候也看情景喜剧。Everybody Loves Raymond 令我们捧腹大笑不止。那是我们每天的快乐时光。舟子喜结交，有饭局常常来者不拒，哪怕一面之交，只要有诚意，他都欣然前往。朋友中不乏中医粉，基督徒，甚至法轮功信徒。观点相左，不妨碍友好相处。舟子不大开玩笑，但熟悉各种掌故，谈话充满智慧和趣味，有一颗百科全书式的大脑，逻辑清晰，记忆惊人，无一句无来历。舟子作息像时钟一样精确。我们入睡时，他开始工作，我们起床时，他进入梦乡。几年如一日。一张书桌，一台电脑，一张床。日常生活简单至极，精神世界异常丰富。常常是看了新语丝，才知道，昨天夜里，又揭露了一个惊天大案；前天的工作，原来是拆穿了一场造假骗局。震撼的新闻，来自深夜中的小房间，层出不穷，而看他的样子，波澜不惊，若无其事，照常喝酒品茶打太极看电视。每次看到有人跳出来跟舟子叫板，我都心里感叹：又来个送死的！舟子打假弹不虚发，至今保持全胜记录。眼看顶着各色光环的名流显贵院士博导大官大佬在舟子面前纷纷落马，身败名裂，真乃人生一大快事！正义至少在新语丝可以局部实现。
有一天，我对舟子开玩笑说，虽然“所有值得我去死的女孩都跟着别人死去了”（方舟子语），咱也得成家呀，三十好几了。他微笑着拿出一张照片给我们看，说是未婚妻。好一双清澈大眼睛，好一对粗黑大辫子。他宣布要回国结婚了。我们大惊又大喜，当即让他请客。席间责令他坦白是如何把这么漂亮的女孩搞到手的。他老老实实交代说是记者，采访中认识。我们感叹：多少姑娘要因此心碎呀。此后，舟子搬回国内，娶妻生子，建立了小家庭。
舟子搬进我家时，带来的是一辆十年新的丰田COROLLA, 一箱衣物，一床行军被，几十箱书和一台电脑。是他的全部家当。回国时，这些东西大都留给了我。车我帮他买了2000美元，书被闻讯而至的方粉们一抢而光。还有几十箱英文书，舍不得丢，费力运回国，被中国海关百般刁难，不让通行。几十张瓦格纳的CD盘无人买，我自己慢慢听，也成了一个瓦格纳迷。还有一套功夫茶具，人一走，茶就凉，冷落在车库里接收尘土。这就是方舟子的物质世界。常人岂受得了这般清苦，而舟子觉得足矣，自得其乐。
舟子是模范丈夫，对妻子百依百顺。舟子也是模范爸爸，对女儿有求必应。妻子在网上遭到攻击，他发誓为老婆报仇，笔锋格外猛烈，让仇家无处藏身。男子汉大丈夫，有仇有冤朝我来，触犯家人，则睚眦必报！他的女儿，聪明伶俐小天使，活脱一个小舟子，带给他巨大快乐。他常带女儿出去玩，跑前跑后照相，被妻子戏称是女儿的狗仔队。舟子朋友不是很多，秉承着君子之交淡如水的古训。一旦成为真朋友，则遵循金庸武林世界的侠义传统，一诺千金，忠诚不二。
最令人折服的是舟子的内心定力。永远沉着，永远淡定。不以物喜，不以己悲，决心一下，终生不改。去他家，你看不到任何奖章奖状，连他出版的几十种书都不摆在外面。名誉钱财地位于他统是身外物。与他相处十四年，没听他大声说过话，也从未见他急躁气恼沮丧消沉。脑中的科学给他自信和冷静；心中的道义给他悲悯无私的情怀。俗世的荣华富贵，浮云粪土而已。他的偶像是鲁迅，横眉冷对，俯首甘为，高自期许，其来有自。博大精深的内心世界，岂是唐骏肖传国韩寒崔永元罗永浩周小平等丑类所能望项背！
舟子有句话，感动过无数人：在我的内心深处可悲地无可奈何地深爱着这个多灾多难一点也不可爱的民族。这正是为什么方舟子选择这条寂寞而又充满危险的打假路。终年与骗子流氓无赖疯子白痴造谣者伪君子无耻小人打交道，忍受各种污蔑诽谤威胁攻击，时刻警惕穷凶极恶之人施加毒手，牺牲掉最基本的人生自由，险些丢掉身家性命，却不改初衷，义无反顾，我行我素，愈战愈勇，源出于对这个饱经灾难的民族的大爱。我不下地狱，谁下地狱？精卫填海般的执着，知其不可为而为之。这是舟子独有的人格力量，也是他的道德制高点。一介书生，改变世界！
舟子有言，美丽的女孩有的是，纯情的女孩也不少吧。但要二者兼得-请各位小姐原谅-这世上恐怕没有（方舟子散文“我的理想”）。 我接一句下联：聪明有道义的人有的是，勇敢有担当的人也不少吧。但要二者兼得-请所有的先生原谅-这世上只有一个。
中国出了一个方舟子，乃是国家之幸；中国只出了一个方舟子，乃是国家之不幸。一个方舟子而为政府所不容，必欲封网禁声，则是国家民族之大不幸。 |

评论：中国科学院关于推荐中国科学院院士候选人的通知 |

1. 只有院士推荐和中国科协推荐两个渠道。院士推荐没有上限，科协推荐只有60人。可以预见的是：总候选人数将会大幅度下降，院士推荐成为主渠道。（这一点与工程院不一样，虽然工程院还没有公布院士推荐限额，但是允许地方科协推荐）
2. 院士增选名额65人，各学部名额与以前一样，增加了5个新兴交叉学科院士：化学生物学1名、环境科学1名、能源科学1名、生物信息与定量计算生物学及观测技术1名、信息与数学密码1名 (这五个名额直接对应五个学科，针对性极强，排他性也很强。)
3. 中科院恢复了公布初步候选人（即第一轮评审）的传统，但似乎取消了公布推荐名单的环节，也就是说很可能要到8月才能看到候选人的情况。 |

In 2007, Ms. Sun Ping was appointed the dean of the Art Research School at Beijing Foreign Studies University and executive director of the Research Institute on Chinese National Operas at Renmin University of China, aiming at the research and improvement of Beijing Opera performing theory.

Early Chinese Daybooks and the Question of Textual Genre

Recently excavated early Chinese manuscripts have revealed that texts known as rishu (“daybooks”) circulated widely in the Chinese cultural sphere during the late Warring States, Qin, and Western Han periods (ca. 3rd – 1st centuries BCE). While primarily concerned with practical methods of selecting auspicious times and places for a variety of activities in daily life – activities such as travel, marriage, planting crops, seeking an audience, or burying the dead – the manuscripts also tended to incorporate a range of other miscellaneous contents with the result that no two daybooks are precisely alike. In this talk, I will introduce select passages from daybook manuscripts with an emphasis on the links and divisions between different forms of knowledge circulating in the formative years of the Chinese Empire, and I will consider aspects of the historical context which may help to explain how daybooks manifest as a coherent textual genre.
Ethan Harkness teaches at NYU Gallatin and writes about early Chinese culture with an emphasis on technical topics that inform the histories of science and religion. In his methodological approach to research, he also makes extensive use of excavated manuscripts to supplement historical perspectives derived from the transmitted textual tradition. His doctoral dissertation, entitled “Cosmology and the Quotidian: Day Books in Early China,” analyzes a type of almanac that circulated widely in the Chinese cultural sphere between the late fourth century and the late first century BCE. For over ten years, Professor Harkness lived in Taiwan, where in addition to academic research, he actively pursued a number of interests, including bicycle touring and the Chinese strategy game of weiqi.
