I appreciate your response, as I emphasized, I fully aware of the fact everyone are entitled to whatever they want to say in this country, my point is that the title and the way the article appeared in your journal gave an impression of the inclination of the editor who happen to be professors that are supposed to know the facts and science better than laymen.

The recent issue of your online journal published the misinformation (http://scholarsupdate.hi2net.com/news.asp?NewsID=12934) about GM safety issue. Although I appreciate you included a rebuttal from Shimin in the end, the title of this report is at least, I am sorry to say, very inappropriate. I fully appreciate it that everyone has the freedom to say whatever they want, but as a respected website of an association of US college professors (or at least I regard your website as main steam), you may want to be more cautious on put the language of the title of this article -- to avoid appearing ignorant and absurd. In contrast to other controversial issues such as abortion, gun control, drug control etc, there is a clear consensus in the scientific community in the GM issue.
In case if you want to dig deeper into this, I attached a files that discussed this controversial issue: the NAS report in 2004, (http://www.nap.edu/catalog/10977.html) about two controversial issues: GM food and stem cell. The take home massage from both is the same -- the genetically modified foods are as unsafe as the conventional food!

各位同胞：
我们都是旅居美国大波士顿地区的华人华侨， 11月9日在Boston Common (Park Street Side) 集会，向ABC电视台和Disney表示强烈抗议，遣责ABC电台10月16日播出的含有
辱华言论的节目，正式表达我们的如下诉求：
第一：ABC承认错误,通过电台和媒体网络正式地向全美华人和其电视观众做出诚挚道歉.
第二：ABC立即解雇Jimmy Kimmel。
第三: ABC采取措施,避免此类事件再次发生。
2013年10月16日， 在美国ABC电视台的Jimmy Kimmel Live节目中， 当主持人 （Jimmy Kimmel）问到美国欠下中国庞大的债务， 如何解决时， 一个六岁的男孩回答： 可以
杀光所有华人。 这时Jimmy Kimmel竟然回答：这是一个有趣的想法。之后，他又居心叵测地提出 “我们是否准许华人活下去？”的问题。该节目的制作是提前录制的， 在播出前对这样的 言论不删减，不谴责，反而任其播出，充分显示出该台蔑视华人的立场和主持人幸灾乐祸的丑陋嘴脸。我们认为，在当今时代，如此辱华仇视种族的言语在我们社会应毫无容身之地。它的播出，是ABC和Disney的耻辱。
在全美华人的抗议声中，ABC和Jimmy Kimmel勉强进行了所谓的道歉，然而却毫无诚意，丝毫没有承认自己的错误，只是把他们错误的视频用删除的方法给遮盖起来，并口口声声言下之意是我们华人不能理解他们的玩笑。可是杀人，还是杀光一个种族能算是玩笑吗？放眼全美，他们敢跟其他哪个族裔开这样的玩笑？诱导鼓励小孩以灭绝种族以及剥除别的种族的生存权的方式来赖掉责任，是公共媒体所要传给我们的孩子的吗？今日的教唆，明日的校园惨案。今天的屠华言论，明日的种族屠杀宣言。
ABC必须要正式地公开向所有华人和节目收看者道歉！必须要承认他们在那个节目中所说的话是非常不合适的，是在宣扬不恰当的暴力！并且是在孩子面前宣扬不恰当的暴力！他们必须要为他们错误地录制并播出这个节目表示诚恳的道歉！立即解雇Jimmy Kimmel！并且承诺今后在节目审查时引入相关机制保证类似错误决不再发生！
来吧，是时候挺起我们的胸膛，捍卫我们的尊严，保护我们的孩子！来吧，团结在一起，呐喊出你心中的愤怒，让全美国都能听到我们的声音，看到我们的力量！一个人的力量是有限的，但我们所有人在一起，力量是无限的！我们要让全美国都知道，从现在起，我们华人不再软弱，我们的尊严不容侵犯！来吧，请参加我们下面的抗议活动。如果因故不能亲自参加，请你在财政上支持我们。多谢你的支持和参与。

你看了电影 Gravity了吗？讲了一个永不放弃希望的宇航员成功解救自己的故事。其实不用看那个故事，你，我一个中国人能有胆量有学识敢来美国已经证明你有足够的乐观和胆略。美国在族裔平等上可能是目前世界上做得最好的制度了。在美国受歧视的不光是华人，其实华人相对来说还是地位较高的，只是近年来媒体大肆宣扬中国威胁论，加上经济不景气，白人把怨气撒在中国人身上。这次指所以这么多出来游行，我认为很多人都有亲身感觉，近些年白人憎恨华人有增无减！ 黑人、西语裔人也有限，但是他们就是敢发声！说明发声就是有用！所以不必等中国人都来美国，只要我们敢发声，就会起作用！

I was one of the first 2000 people having signed the petition. It was outrageous for ABC to air such a tasteless program. It's even more outrageous for all of us to wait such a long time for ABC to apologize given that so many people have already voiced their anger. But does it really matter even if we all signed the petition? America is a democracy and ABC management is not stupid. Chinese is a small minority in this country. If we don't have the votes, like the African Americans and the Hispanics do, or the money, like the Jewish people do, no body will treat Chinese seriously. Yes, our political future doesn't look too promising here, unless we can have significant number of Chinese people back home moved here, or buy our ways through the American politics. Unfortunately, all these seem unlikely to happen soon. Many people on this list are much smarter than I'm. Hopefully someone can make me feel more hopeful.
