Commemorative Symposium on Yu Daifu,
A Pioneering Writer of the early 20th Century

Yu Dafu was a popular short-story writer and poet of the 1920s in China and one of the founding members of the Creation Society, which was devoted to the promotion of modern literature. In celebrating his 120th birthday, the Renwen Society at China Institute and Flushing Library are jointly presenting a symposium on Saturday, September 10, 2:30-4:30 pm on Yu Dafu's life and works. Speakers include Prof. Yu Renqiu of SUNY at Purchase, Mr. Wang Hailong of Columbia University, Dr. Sun Dong, Chinese Director of the Business Confucius Institute at the Global Center of SUNY and Paul Qiu, Deputy Director of Flushing Library. Ms. Ma Lin, a top pipa player, will pay tribute to the author with a moving pipa performance. Ms. Guo Xin, a graduate of Columbia U, will recite a prose by Yu Dafu. Yu's offspring will be attending the symposium.
This lecture is in Chinese. FREE, but advanced registration is requested.

Dr. Sean Li is the Founder and CEO at Ping An Group Inc., where he set up and built a one-stop financial service company. He is also currently the Executive Marketing Director at World Financial Group (WFG), where he supervises 3 branches with more than four hundred insurance and securities licensed representatives to conduct financial service business. He was an OSJ (Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction) Manager at IAI (Investment Advisors International) Inc. and was a Researcher and Postdoc at Jet Propulsion Laboratory for NASA and Caltech.

Cameron J. McConnell will talk about pricing guidelines to maximize profitability of businesses by presenting a model that creates a pre-tax profit return that provides sufficient earnings to re-invest in innovation. Cameron J. McConnell founded his business advising firm, MGLLC, in 1978 and is currently the Chief Innovation Officer of Build to Prosper, a division of MGLLC. After 400 engagements with business owners over the last 37 years, Cam continues to assist owners in increasing their business pre-tax earnings to be sustainable and sufficient to invest in future innovation. In his new book, “Build To Prosper” he discloses MGLLC’s intellectual property. This intellectual property is the system that is applied by his methodology to successfully obtain a minimum 10% pre-tax profit return on sales. The following endorsement of his book “Build To Prosper” helps summarize almost 40 years of leadership as a CEO, Chief Innovation Officer and business adviser with his management team.
