TechConnect's ConferZoom and 3C Media Solutions Products Now in Canvas! Join TechConnect on May 22, 2019 from 10:00-11:45 a.m. for two webinars demonstrating available products and services
From 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. we will cover TechConnect's ConferZoom product with new features available in Canvas. The new features include an appointment booking function that gives instructors the ability to offer and schedule appointments with students online. Instructors can set their own availability and offer specific time slots for online office hours or private meetings with students.
Calendar integrations and a new email functionality offering instructors and students the option to set personal preferences for email notifications is also included in the new release. Account creation, desktop sharing and recording will be highlighted as well as a demonstration off these new features.
From 11:00 until 11:45 a.m. we will be covering features and benefits of 3C Media Solutions including tools for video and file storage, closed captioning and seamless embedding in your Canvas course with our Learning Tool Integration (LTI). Tune in for one webinar or attend both to find out how these services interact to assist you in your online courses.

YOUNG MATHEMATICIANS CONFERENCE
at The Ohio State University
August 9 - 11, 2019 (Fri-Sun)
Please mark the date and forward this announcement to any students or teachers you know are involved in undergraduate research in mathematics. Information about this year''s conference has been posted and will be updated at http://ymc.osu.edu/
# APPLICATIONS
We are inviting applications from undergraduate students involved in REUs and similar programs to present their research in talks and poster sessions. We expect to invite and /fully support/ around seventy student presenters, and hope to be able to provide partial support for accompanying mentors who are also invited to apply. Visit our website for more details on funding and travel reimbursement. Our online application system will open in June followed shortly by our second announcement. The deadline for applications will be Wednesday July 10, 5:00pm Eastern.
# SPECIAL EVENTS
Besides the student presentations, we are delighted to have the following distinguished speakers to deliver plenary talks at YMC 2019:
Moon Duchin (Tufts University)
Sam Payne (University of Texas at Austin) Tatiana Toro (University of Washington)
As in previous years we will have our "Graduate School Orientation" event with invited representatives from several different US graduate programs in mathematics including: Ohio State, UIUC, and the University of Cincinnati. At this popular venue questions ranging from choices of schools, nuts and bolts of applications, and what life is like as a grad student are discussed.
As usual, we will provide many opportunities for interaction between junior and senior conference participants.
# JUDGING
Applications will be judged and scored right after the submission deadline by a panel of approximately 25 mathematics faculty so that we expect most decisions to be available in the week following the deadline. More info on the selection process, including tips for writing abstracts, is available during the application process.
## Judges Wanted
If you are interested in undergraduate research, hold a mathematics Ph.D. (preferably faculty position), have 5 or so hours'' time and internet access in the days following the deadline, and would like to help with judging please email us at ymc@math.osu.edu

Each year, the Committee on the Profession of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) selects a program to be designated as a Mathematics Program that Makes a Difference. The award brings recognition to outstanding programs that have successfully addressed the issues of underrepresented groups in mathematics, including racial and ethnic minorities, women, low-income students, and first generation college students.
I’m pleased to note that this recognition includes an award of $1,000, provided by the Mark Green and Kathryn Kert Green Fund for Inclusion and Diversity.
I am writing to encourage you and other members of your department to nominate programs that you feel are especially outstanding for this award. The process, described at Programs That Make a Difference, is not onerous and non-winning nominations are automatically reconsidered for the following two years. Nomination of one’s own institution or program is permitted. The deadline for nominations is September 15, 2019.
