Dear Colleagues across the globe, wherever you are, greetings:
Once again, it is with great pleasure that I inform you of the availability of the Volume 6, Issue 12 (December 2011) of the Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal. AAM is available online. The table of contents is attached and may also be viewed at http://www.pvamu.edu/aam. If you did not receive this e-mail directly and wish to receive e-mail announcements when new issues are published or if you have questions or comments about AAM, please send an e-mail to the Editor-in-Chief at amhaghighi@pvamu.edu. My apologies for a possible redundancy of the e-mail.
I am also excited to inform you that the contents from AAM publications are now included in EBSCO (http://www.ebscohost.com/) information products. This is in addition to the American Mathematical Society’s Mathematical Review (MathSciNet®) and Current Mathematical Publications (CMP) an honor that we proudly acknowledge.
In order to pre-empt a lengthening of the turn-around time, that could be caused by a surge in the number of manuscripts submitted and accepted, we have arranged for the current issue to contain 15 papers ( 252 pages) covering applications in a wide range of topics in mathematics and statistics, which, I believe you will find interesting. For the page numbering, the first issue of each year starts on page one (1) and the tally continues to accumulate in subsequent issues until the end of that year. The “issues” themselves are numbered sequentially in ascending order with the volumes indicate the year of publication. The changes, where applied, have been indicated to prevent any confusion and mis-references.
I am deeply appreciative of the commitment of our Board of Editors (updated version attached) and reviewers, who are always ready and willing to work with authors in order to get their manuscripts to publishable AAM standards. I am especially grateful to those who submit extremely in depth reports, those authors can tremendous benefit from. Their volunteer and priceless contributions represent a great service to the profession. We also caution that final acceptance or rejection of a manuscript is an integral part of the peer review process and that rejection, in no way, minimizes the professional statue of the author(s).
My gratitude is finally extended to my departmental faculty, staff and Prairie View A&M University for providing the opportunity to get the journal online.

瑜伽脚 百岁老人都能练的
周末假日，我回老家去探望爷爷奶奶。吃完晚饭后，爷爷说：「表现一下你练瑜伽的情况吧。」于是，我现场为爷爷练了一段，爷爷奶奶很高兴，说：「不错，这身子骨练得还真柔软，跟你练的都是些年轻人吧？」我说：「哪里，我的学生中也有六十多岁的老阿嬷呢，其实爷爷奶奶您们也能练。」爷爷一听连连摆手：「我这把老骨头可经不起那样折腾。看爷爷紧张得像个孩子，我跟奶奶都被逗笑了。我说：「您放心，我不教您难的，只教您一招到了100岁都能练的瑜伽。动动脚趾头就能让你腰板直、睡眠好。每天做一做，就能健康长寿。爷爷一听兴致来了，问道：「只用脚趾头就能练瑜伽？那我可要学学。」「这套『脚趾瑜伽』一共三招──『石头』、『剪刀』、『布』，就是用脚来模仿我们用手做这些猜拳动作，能锻炼到腿上的六条经络。」「怎么做呢？先把所有的脚趾都紧紧地抓扣住，好，扣紧，这叫『石头』。」
◆ 睡眠品质不佳，绝对做不好「石头式」。
爷爷做得很好，但奶奶的五个脚趾说什么也抓不在一起。我对奶奶说：「『石头』这个动作反映的是头部的血液循环状况，凡是睡不好、脑缺血、精神压力大的人一般都做不好。」
奶奶连连点头：「没错，我最近一直睡不好，老是头晕，你说得还真准。」我接着说：「好，那我们接下来把大脚趾向上翘起──这就是『剪刀』。」这回轮到奶奶笑爷爷了，爷爷的大拇趾说什么也翘不起来，急得他用手去掰。
◆腰部有没有问题，一做「剪刀式」就知道。
我说：「『剪刀』反映的是腰部状况，腰椎有问题或者腰肌劳损的人，这个动作就做不来。确实，爷爷腰痛的毛病已经很多年了，一直没根治。「最后，我们把五根脚趾全都打开，每个脚趾头都分离，这叫『布』。脚趾打得愈开，经络就愈通畅。」这石头、剪刀、布三招练下来，逗得爷爷奶奶哈哈大笑。我说：「您两位老人家以后每晚睡觉前都做一做，既通经络又保健。经络通了，睡得好、更有体力、气血更活络，这比吃什么保健品都要有效。每天晚上泡完脚后做一做，持续一时间，相信奶奶的睡眠和爷爷腰的毛病都能得到缓解。而且这三个动作还可以让头脑变得更灵活，爷爷以后下棋就更厉害了。」
◆五根脚趾头打得愈开愈好。
爷爷奶奶真的持续做这三个动作，不仅自身问题得到解决，他们俩还自创玩法。每次爷爷奶奶意见不一的时候，就用这招来决定谁做主，没想到还为他们的晚年生活增添一项娱乐。你每次回家探望长辈的时候，与其拎着包装华丽但不实用的保健品，不如把这套简单实用又乐趣无限的「脚趾瑜伽」送给他们。全家老少齐动脚，相信带来的不只是健康，还有亲情与欢乐。

您好！此次天津侨办是协助津南区政府将这次的活动信息发布出去，津南区政府陆续收到了有40多位博士发来的创业计划书，鉴于这次活动邀请海外的博士人数限制在10---15人，而且博士们从国外订机票的时间比较紧急，津南区领导决定不再继续接收海外博士的报名，并会尽快给选定的博士再发正式邀请函，这次没有选定的博士我们计划下期再安排。
