Chinese Sent Down Youths: An Oral History Project

In 2011, Zhao Yigong launched an oral history project to document the Chinese sent-down youth movement during the Cultural Revolution. To date, Zhao Yigong and Han Meng have interviewed 478 subjects who took part in the movement. One particular group of the interview subjects was part of a wave of educated youths who "fled to Hong Kong," as refugees from the mainland. There in Hong Kong, these former educated youths sought better lives for themselves and contributed to the population surge in Hong Kong from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Film Production in the Maoist Era: An Oral History Project

Presented by Zhao Yigong and Han Meng
From 2002 to 2012, Zhao Yigong has interviewed over 1,200 filmmakers and crew members from the Chinese film industry. These interviews have resulted in an oral history archive of more than 3,000 interview hours. The filmmakers featured are some of the main figures in the Chinese film world from the 1940s to the 1990s. Interview subjects include notable figures such as Tang Xiaodan, Wang Weiyi, Chen-Liting, Sun Daolin, Tian Hua, Qin Yi, and Zhang Ru Fang. In collaboration with Han Meng, Zhao Yigong also produced the documentary series "New China, New Cinema."

14th SICC International Tutorial Workshop “Topics in nonlinear dynamics”
“MODELING, ANALYSIS, AND CONTROL OF COMPLEX NETWORKS AND CYBER-PHYSICAL SYSTEMS” （29/06/19 to 30/06/19 Ischia - Napoli, Italy
The 14th SICC International Tutorial Workshop “Topics in nonlinear dynamics” will be held on 29 and 30 June, 2019 in the island of Ischia (Napoli), Italy. This interdisciplinary workshop will be strategically held at the closing of the IEEE European Control Conference (ECC) in the Island of Ischia, which is located a short ferry ride from the location of ECC in Napoli. The topic of the 2019 edition is “MODELING, ANALYSIS, AND CONTROL OF COMPLEX NETWORKS AND CYBER-PHYSICAL SYSTEMS”
From autonomous vehicles and smart grids to massive online social networks and intelligent systems, multiagent systems consisting of many interacting agents communicating with each other over a network of complex interconnections are crucial to many diverse applications. This workshop will gather scholars, students and practitioners from different communities to share their views and perspectives on the challenges that the analysis, design and control of complex sensory, automation, and social interaction systems brought to the engineering discipline.
The workshop is composed by 13 invited talks on the topic by experts in the field. Moreover, a selected number of talks from participants will be chosen by the organizing committee for presentation on the first day of the workshop.The deadline for the early registration to the workshop is May 31st.
