The California State Board of Education will vote on the ethnic study model curriculum on Thursday 3/18. This model curriculum is based on critical race theory and will have significant impact to future generations. Many states have pledged to adopt California's model curriculum and there is also a state assembly bill about including the ethnic study as a required class for high school graduation.

Please see the links below to get your voice heard. It's easy- just click the links and use the prepared texts. Please also forward to other people.

Thanks

Subject: ACTION NEEDED NOW: CA Ethnic Studies

Dear Friends,

As we come down to the wire on days remaining before the March 18 State Board of Education (SBE) meeting, your voices are needed more than ever.

Many of you have been asking for ways to maximize your impact in these final days leading up to the meeting. Please take the following actions to make sure your concerns are heard:
Join us for a '''Call in Day’ to the governor''s office TOMORROW, TUESDAY, MARCH 16 between 9 AM and 5 PM (or call in between 9 AM and 5 PM any day leading up to the SBE meeting on March 18) to voice your concerns. Please find the script and number for calling the governor’s office at the bottom of this email.
Sign up to call in for public comment at the March 18 SBE meeting.
Email your caucus members regarding your community’s concerns. Click on one of the caucuses below to send an auto-generated email to your California state caucus members:
        • Latino Caucus
        • Black Caucus
        • Asian/Pacific Islander Caucus
        • Jewish Caucus
Email your local representative with your concerns. Click here to populate an email and be sure to add your representative's email in the ''To:'' line.
Lastly, if you have not yet sent our most recent auto-generated letter asking California officials for changes to the ESMC Draft 4, please also be sure to submit one here.
Call the governor's office at (916) 445-2841 between 9 AM and 5 PM and leave the following message:
My name is  ______. I urge the Governor to remove the narrow Critical Ethnic Studies doctrine corrupting the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum, and replace it with a Constructive approach.

The Governor promised balance in the ESMC, but instead it’s infused with a one-sided ideology, including political indoctrination and Critical Race Theory.

Please instruct the State Board of Education to replace the narrow Critical Ethnic Studies ideology. The ESMC should foster inquiry -not indoctrinate; fight racism - not define people by skin color; unite and inspire students - not divide them and evoke guilt and helplessness. Thank you.

Thank you for your continued action,

Alliance for Constructive Ethnic Studies
A diverse grassroots coalition working to remove political agendas from Ethnic Studies, enabling curricula that inspire mutual respect, fight racism, and foster balanced analysis.
