In Memory of Charles Sie
APEX would like to honor the memory of Charlie Sie, long time APEX advisor, mentor, community activist and friend, who passed away peacefully on February 27th. APEX would not be what it is today without his help and support when APEX was a fledgling, startup, non-profit organization. You will be missed Charlie. May you rest in peace. |

2013 Kickoff Mixer at Lexington Social House
On Thursday, February 21, APEX held its first networking event in the 2013 season. The aptly named 2013 Kickoff Mixer was a huge success with tickets sold out more than a day in advance. In addition to benefiting APEX's Youth Olympics, the raised proceeds were also contributed to local non-profit organization, Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center(APADRC), to support their efforts in providing student scholarships. APEX attendees enjoyed happy hour drinks and appetizers at Lexington Social House. To encourage networking enthusiasm, entry into prize raffles were given to those who brought a hundred business cards and participated in the ice breaker game. Join us for the next Los Angeles mixer in April 2013 - details to be determined!

APEX Helps Out at 114th Golden Dragon Festival and ParadeAPEX Cares kicked off its 2013 volunteer season at the 114th Annual Golden Dragon Parade on February 16, 2013 in Chinatown as we celebrated the Lunar New Year and the rich heritage of Chinese and Asian American culture in Los Angeles. Over a dozen APEX volunteers spent the day setting up and tearing down parade barricades along the eight-block route, marching alongside the parade front lines, and enjoying the food and festivities. The volunteers were rewarded with a stunning parade featuring government officials and dignitaries, bands, martial artists, dancers, and performers, and ending with a spectacular display of firecrackers. | | | | | |
