On 3/24 afternoon, Boston Nankai Alumni Association will hold a career development seminar, hoping to help our alumni and friends in their job search and career advancement. Whether you are still at school, facing to get into the job market, thinking about a new job or career change, you are welcome to our seminar! Our speakers(sample profiles attached), with various education background and rich work experience in multiple industries from Accounting/Finance, Education, Consulting, IT, Engineering, Pharmaceutical and Health Care, will share their experience and industry insights, and provide practical advice. In order to make our seminar interactive and audience-focused, we’d like to collect any talking points that you want to be included in the discussion. Please indicate in the registration sheet. A networking dinner will follow the seminar.

Jerry Y. Zhang, Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager, Wells Capital Management
Jerry Zhang is a Managing Director and senior portfolio manager for the Berkeley Street Emerging Markets team with Wells Capital Management. He joined WellsCap from Evergreen Investments, where he served in a similar role since 2006 and as senior analyst from 2004. He began his investment industry career in 1999 as an analyst at
Oppenheimer Asset Management. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Nankai University and a doctoral degree in economics from Vanderbilt University. Jerry has earned the right to use the CFA designation and is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society.
Eric Wu, Managing Principal, Analysis Group
Dr. Eric Wu is a health economist specializing in health economics, outcomes, and market access issues related to pharmaceuticals and biologics. He has broad experience consulting to pharmaceutical and device companies, payers, and government agencies in North America, Europe, and Asia. Dr. Wu is an adjunct professor at Nankai University and sits on the advisory board of the Health Economic Evaluation Center of the Chinese Physician Association. He also serves on the review committee for China’s formulary drug user guidelines. Dr. Wu got his Ph.D., pharmacoeconomics and policy, M.S., health care regulation and law, and M.A., economics from University of Southern California, and B.S., Peking University. He graduated from Nankai High School.
Jason Wen, Director, Office of Technology Transfer & Licensing, Boston College
Jason Wen joined the Office of Technology Transfer and Licensing(OTTL)at Boston College in December 2012. He previously served as Assistant Director in the Office of Technology Transfer at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York and was an Assistant Professor in Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Wen has more than ten years of biomedical science research experience. He also has a broad background combining experience in the life sciences, business, and patent law. Dr. Wen is a long time member of the Association of University Technology Managers(AUTM)and the Licensing Executives Society(LES). He was among the first to earn a Certified Licensing Professional(CLP)credential, and now serves as a current CLP Exam Development Committee member. He is also a Registered Technology Transfer Professional(RTTP). As a United States Patent and Trademark Office Registered Patent Agent, Dr. Wen has extensive experience in patent application and prosecution. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Nankai University in China, an MBA from the University of Richmond, and completed one year of law school studies.
Haihong Li, Associate Director of Biostatistics, Vertex Pharmaceuticals
Haihong Li attended Nankai University Department of Mathematics. Since receiving PhD in Statistics in 2001, he has worked in both academia and the pharmaceutical industry, and is currently an associate director of biostatistics at Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, MA.
Kang Zhang, Lead Research Scientist, GE Global Research
Kang Zhang is currently a Lead Research Scientist in GE Global Research, New York. He graduated from Nankai University with a B.S. degree in Physics, and obtained a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. From 2009 to 2010, he was appointed as an ORISE Research Fellow by the U. S. Department of Energy to work on medical device evaluation in the U. S. Food and Drug Administration. In 2010, he won the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad. He is an active researcher and inventor in both biomedical engineering and IT fields, with more than 50 scientific publications, and 6 patents.
