Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, starting today, May 1 through May 12!
Since 1983, LAAPFF serves as a forum for Asian American filmmakers to showcase their work. The festival has featured works from artists such as John Woo and Ang Lee. For the full schedule, ticket purchases, and information, visit LAAPF’s official website!

We’re hosting our first book drive! APEX Cares, TAP-LA, and OCA-OC are teaming up to support the Book Doctor Project of THINK Together! Join us, Saturday, May 11, from 9:00AM-1:00PM to collect, clean, and repair donated children’s books that will be distributed to children in pediatric waiting rooms, extended learning programs, schools, and other non-profit organizations. (Casting)Call for LA Asian Pacific Film Festival Volunteers!
APEX Cares will be volunteering at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival on Tuesday, May 7th. Shifts start between 3:00 PM and 6:45 PM and run from 3-5 hours. A limited number of volunteer opportunities are available at either DGA(West Hollywood)and CVG(Koreatown)locations for roles that include information & guest services, theatre operations, special events, and box office. 19th Annual APEX Youth Olympics:"Rumble in the Jungle"
Over 200 youth and volunteers "Rumbled in the Jungle”, Saturday, April 27. Held at the LAPD Police Academy, the 19th Annual APEX Youth Olympics got started with special guest speaker, Deputy Chief Terry Hara. Erika Mariko Olsen, 99 Martial Arts Center, and Kokoro Taiko Kai of Long Beach provided entertainment. DJ akSPRAY played music throughout the day to keep our heart rates up, and Jesse JaM Miranda returned to emcee. The 2013 Miss LA Chinatown court concluded the event by presenting the awards and singing happy birthday to Remy Wong, a Youth Olympics committee member.

Successful Evening of Elegance and Style- LA Spring Mixer!
APEX’s Professional Mixer on April 18th at the Los Angeles Athletics’ Club drew an estimated 450 guests. Those in attendance enjoyed delicious h'orderves to the sounds of a live jazz band. APEX's founder, Stephen Liu, commemorated the evening with a speech about APEX's impressive 20-year legacy. Special thanks to Lyft, Stylish Fox, Georgetown Cupcakes, Panda Restaurant Group and Worldwide Golf for making this night such a special occasion. APEX Cares:20th Annual CAUSE Dinner
With the help of the APEX Cares team, Center for Asians United for Self-Empowerment(CAUSE)celebrated its 20th anniversary on Friday, April 19th at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, CA. Through voter registration, community outreach, and leadership development, CAUSE works to advance the political empowerment of the APIA community. This year, CAUSE honored the Asian Pacific American Legislative Staff Network, of which our very own APEX board members Samuel Liu, Ricky Choi, Tuan Do and Jacqueline Wu are members.
