SZ dominates Forbes innovation list
SHENZHEN is home to five of Forbes China’s 10 most innovative people of the year.
The five entrepreneurs are Wang Chuanfu, board chairman of BYD; Wang Jian, president of BGI; Wang Wei, president of Shunfeng Express; Zhang Xiaolong, senior vice president of Tencent; and Wang Tao, founder of DJI Innovations.
Forbes China selected its list of innovative people in China based on five standards:technology-based commercial success, a deciding role in such success, bringing obvious changes to their industry, creation of a new user group, and wide expectation of the candidate to bring about “the next big thing.”

NAROS Attend Shenzhen Longgang Innovative and Entrepreneurial Environment Promotion Meeting
Palo Alto, CA --- The North American Representative Office of Shenzhen was invited by Longgang District and Tianan Cyber Park Group to deliver a keynote speech at their event titled Silicon Valley Express Exchange Meeting. The half day event focused on promoting the entrepreneurial environment of Longgang District and Tianan Cyber Park Group’s endeavor of facilitating innovation and scientific exchange. The event includes two sessions, guest speeches and Inauguration ceremony of Longgang investment promotion office in Silicon Valley.
The event was held at Stanford University. Around 100 attendees with various background participated in the event. Keynote speakers including the mayor of Longgang District, CEO of Tianan Cyber Park Group, mayor of Menlo Park, dean of Stanford business school, etc each shared their insights of the bilateral exchange and cooperation between Shenzhen and Silicon Valley area.
During the Networking session, NAROS has an in-depth communications with those mayors in Silicon Valley Area, Monterey Bay Association and delegations from Tianan Cyber Park Group and Longgang district.

Georgia Tech Launches New International Program in Shenzhen
Georgia Tech’s newest international initiative, the Georgia Tech-Shenzhen Master of Science(M.S.)Degree Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering(ECE)launched successfully in Shenzhen, China on August 18, 2014. Approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools(SACS)and by the Chinese Ministry of Education, this truly unique program allows students from all over the world to receive a high quality education offered by Georgia Tech’s own faculty, gain experiences studying and living in China, and interact with multinational companies in China.

Foreign firms queue up to join Shenzhen carbon market
BEIJING, Sept 5(Reuters)- The China Emissions Exchange in Shenzhen has granted a trading license to Singapore-based broker Ginga Petroleum, with another eight foreign utilities and trading firms waiting in line.Ginga became the first non-Chinese firm granted a foreign currency account to join Shenzhen's pilot emissions trading scheme, one of seven set up in the world's biggest-emitting nation ahead of a nationwide market set to begin in 2016.

'Makers' turn Shenzhen from copycat factory to hardware capital
The Chinese government is aiming to push Shenzhen to the world stage by taking advantage of the local ability for research and development in the hardware sector.Dynamic young people from around the world dubbed the "makers" have been coming to Shenzhen and turning all their ideas into physical reality as they can easily find the raw materials they need in the city's Huaqiangbei area, which is something that the United States or Europe cannot duplicate.

Shenzhen Named Mainland China’s Most Pedestrian-Friendly City
Shenzhen, the southern boom-town of Guangdong, was recently voted mainland China’s most pedestrian-friendly city, according to a report by the Natural Resources Defense Council, a New York-based environmental advocacy group.
Guangzhou followed Shenzhen, ranking No. 4. The council surveyed a total of 35 cities in China; Shenzhen scored 67.83 points out of a possible one hundred in terms of walking safety, comfort, convenience and government management, reported Jing Daily on September 11.
