Internet of Things(IoT) has been regarded by many as one of the greatest transformational forces in our time. Gartner estimates that IoT will generate 1.9 trillion of economic value-add in 2020. In healthcare alone, IoT is expected to add $285B provider value to global economy. McKinsey puts the economic value-add at $6.2 trillion annually by 2025.

Despite the bullish promise, the road to IoT greatness is at best unpaved. IoT market is still largely in its infancy, with plenty of unanswered questions - what obstacles could prove treacherous? What is the role of standards in resolving them? What does it take to securely connect 50 billion things of all imaginable shapes and extract value from them?

Finally, what can we all do to accelerate the growth of this promising industry right here in New England? NECINA has invited prominent IoT leaders to share their perspectives on this fascinating topic.

NECINA China Program:http://necina.org/china/

The inaugural NECINA China Conference held last Saturday was a great success with a full house of attendees from both China and the U.S.

The conference was held on October 4th, at KPMG Boston Office with the generous support from KPMG Boston. The spacious KPMG conference center was filled to capacity. After NECINA President Ben Tao's welcome speech, Dr. Peter Petri, the Founding Dean of Brandeis International Business School, gave us an insightful talk based on the China-U.S. trade relations. Mr. Xinyue Zhu, General Manager of BSD Management Consulting offered an overview of the current state of China economy with focuses on crisis and opportunities. Mr. Harry Zhu, Founder and CEO of Wayou Networks, emphasized the crucial role that Internet innovation is playing in today's business. Ms. Liqi Peng, the first Global Brand Director promoted from Asia at Procter & Gamble shared with attendees how to win in global markets and leading across the culture chasm using lessons she learned from her own career experience. "The trends of China's Education market" topic presented by Mr. Mingzhou Fan also revealed that the Chinese education market is in the process of innovation and transaction.

The 2014 China Conference has set off to a great start to the future events in the NECINA China program. The attendees not only enlightened by the informative presentations, but also inspired to work on new ideas and solutions for the coming of a globalizing and innovative China. One chief executive from the China delegation, whose company went IPO, completed 9 pages of notes during the conference, despite the fact that the conference was mainly conducted in English, a language he is not good at.

NECINA's China Program is a platform to connect the businesses between Great China and US(NE)to promote bilateral exchange, foster entrepreneurship, and support career development. The program includes annual China Conference and quarterly meetings.

Stay tuned for more upcoming events, and visit our website http://necina.org/china/ for copies of speaker presentations or check out NECINA Facebook page for event photos.
