USC SPRING EVENTS

USC Student Affairs

January 2015

Dear Trojan Parents and Family Members,

Happy New Year!! We hope your family enjoyed the holidays and your student is excited for the spring semester. There are many upcoming events and activities for students and parents. Be sure to visit the Upcoming Parent Events calendar for more information.

News from Parent Programs:

Health Care Requirement Deadline is January 30
New spring students are required to submit proof of immunizations by January 30, 2015. To submit proof, students can email their immunization record to eshcimmu@usc.edu or fax it to 213.821.2740. For more information about immunizations, click here.

In addition, if parents plan to keep their student on their health insurance, new students need to waive the USC health insurance plan by January 30, 2015. Parents will also need to request a waiver in Fall 2015. Waiving in the fall each year means students have waived out of the USC Student Health Insurance Plan for the entire academic year. There is no need to submit a waiver again in Spring 2016. To request a waiver, students need to access their OASIS account online. This can only be done through the student’s login. For more information about waiving insurance, click here.

Encourage Students to Participate in Trojan SCuppers
Trojan SCuppers are special dinners that will bring current USC students, alumni, parents and friends together the weekend of February 20-22, 2015. With 70 SCupper locations throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, these dinner tables need to be filled with students! All students(undergraduate and graduate)are encouraged to register to take part in a SCupper through this link by Thursday, February 5, 2015.

Participate in USC Alumni Day of SCervice
Each year, thousands of Trojans gather across the globe to make a difference in their communities. The USC Alumni Day of SCervice is an opportunity for all alumni and friends to participate in local service volunteer projects organized by USC alumni clubs, chapters and other affiliated groups worldwide. To find out more about hosting a project, click here.

Plan Your Family’s 2015 Commencement Activities
Start planning now for USC’s Commencement on Friday, May 15. Contact local hotels and restaurants early for your reservations and celebrations. The 2015 Grad Fest will be held in the Ronald Tutor Campus Center Grand Ballroom on Wednesday, February 11 and Thursday, February 12.

Is your company or business seeking qualified and talented summer interns?
Exclusive to USC Dornsife students, the unique summer Gateway Program combines a paid internship with a USC academic program and mentorship. Each student is paired with a distinguished professional or USC Dornsife faculty member and enrolled in a customized Multi-Disciplinary Activities course(one unit summer course with USC Dornsife Faculty)to enhance the internship experience through guest speakers, collaborations with fellow students and personal reflection. For information on the program or how to partner with the Gateway Program, click here.
