Adult Chinese Language & Studio Classes ~ Spring Term Starts April 13, 2015
Registration is now open! Register by March 15th to receive a $25 discount off tuition! China Institute offers a wide range of Chinese language classes for students at every proficiency level and with different expectations or goals. Classes start the week of April 13, 2015 with NEW language courses added to the adult Group Classes.

[NEW] Business Chinese This course is designed for those who intend to use Chinese language in business settings. It covers a variety of relevant business topics in the Chinese context such as preparing for business trips, meeting and conversing with fellow colleagues in an office, business phone conversations, business negotiations, conducting an interview, and writing business emails and contracts, etc. Students will come out of the class with not only improved Chinese language skills, but also a better knowledge of China's changing environment and current business practices. The class is open to Chinese learners of intermediate proficiency level and above.

We continue to offer our very popular FREE one-on-one tutoring sessions to registered students while group classes are in session. Each tutoring session is a 45-minute segment that students sign up for on a first come first served basis. The tutoring office hours are available on Monday through Thursday from 10:30am - 12:45pm and 5:30 - 7:45pm.

In the adult studio program, we continue to offer our long-standing and well-received art and culture courses, including Chinese calligraphy, brush painting and Taijiquan.

For Educators:
Mao's Golden Mangoes and the Cultural Revolution：A Night on History for Chinese Teachers ~ March 6, 2015
This Professional Development Workshop offers a unique opportunity for K-12 language educators wishing to deepen their understanding of China and bring that knowledge into the classroom. China Institute Gallery's art education program, Discover China Through Art（DCTA）, will introduce participants to the exhibition Mao's Golden Mangoes and the Cultural Revolution and to Chinese ink art workshops of painting and calligraphy. By looking into over 80 mango-related items and a related video, the Gallery tour will help participants to understand the interaction of material culture and politics in China during this period. Plan for Better Teaching：A Pedagogy Short Course ~ Starts March 8, 2015
"Plan for Better Teaching"（PBT）is a short course designed for in-service Chinese language teachers to learn best practices in the standards-based classroom. Participants will learn key concepts and examine issues related to curriculum development, instruction, and assessment. By engaging in a lesson-plan development project, participants will have the opportunity to implement lesson plans in their own classrooms and individually discuss their work with Dr. Wei-Ling Wu during mentoring sessions. Mandarin for Future Mandarin Teachers（MFMT）~ Summer 2015
Mandarin for Future Mandarin Teachers（MFMT）was established in 2006 through Confucius Institute at China Institute（CI@CI）, a partnership between China Institute and East China Normal University（ECNU）, located in Shanghai. This summer program provides scholarships for a select group of pre-service and in-service Chinese language teachers to take professional development courses taught by distinguished ECNU professors who are leading scholars in their respective fields.
