Professor Hu Da Yi joins forces with China Cal.

Professor Hu Da Yi, Chairman of the Chinese Cardiovascular Society and Dean of Chinese Cardiology, threw his support behind China Cal’s efforts to relieve the suffering of poor Chinese farmers with heart disease. In April, Professor Hu joined Professor Huo Young（Chief of Cardiology at Beijing University First Affiliated Hospital）, cardiology faculty at local Yunnan hospitals, and China Cal volunteers to train village doctors and give hands-on care to farmers in Menghai County, Yunnan province. We are grateful to Professors Hu and Huo, Professor Li Yi of Saint Johns Heart Disease Hospital, and to all our volunteers and staff for their hard work and efforts.

China Cal’s Bus Ride of Mercy.

China Cal Staff, Dr. Jie Huang, Nurse Fang Fang Ke, Manager Shan Shan Chen, Dr. Bob Detrano and five student volunteers returned to Kunming, Yunnan from Menghai County on May 29th with a busload of five impoverished children with congenital heart disease. This year, we have already given nine children a new chance for a happy and productive life by providing diagnostic assistance and financial aid to support needed surgeries. We are hoping to do the same with these five children by providing the best possible care to correct their heart defects. However, their condition is particularly severe, and we need your help! Volunteer Professors Join the China Cal Team.

Chinese University Professors and other foreign volunteers are key to China Cal’s ability to provide care for impoverished farmers and enhance research efforts. Recently, Beijing University Professors, Yang Feng Wu and Lian Cheng Zhao, spent time working in the villages alongside China Cal staff and volunteers. In the past six months, University of Washington Professor Xue Qiao Zhao, University of Southern California Professor Ren Li Qiao and University of British Columbia Professor Marion Tipple volunteered their time, talent and hard work to assist China Cal in research, teaching and clinical care.

China Cal operates solely through the generosity and vision of donors, participants and YOU. Every donation helps tremendously and allows us to continue our efforts in saving lives, raising awareness about heart disease, and improving quality of life through our medical, research and education programs. In order to continue and improve our work, we must soon hire an expert pediatric cardiologist to help us with diagnostic assessments.
