文书，是申请者和招生官的第一次“见面”。越挑剔的大学，对文书的重视程度越高。

除了Common App上要求的主文书要求外，很多美国大学还要求学生递交额外的补充文书。

布朗大学

今年布朗大学给2022-23年的新生和转学生们，一共布置了3道补充文书：

题目一

Brown’s Open Curriculum allows students to explore broadly while also diving deeply into their academic pursuits. Tell us about any academic interests that excite you, and how you might use the Open Curriculum to pursue them while also embracing topics with which you are unfamiliar.（200-250 words）

Essays

提交Coalition Application或Common Application的申请人需要回答以下问题之一，字数不超过400字。

• 工程学院的题目也发生了变化。去边是直接3道题目自行选择2道回答即可，今年的题目是规定了一道必选题，另外2道可选题任选其一
• 康奈尔大学庄臣商学院的题目进行了简单的调整

普林斯顿大学目前还未公布2022-2023年的补充文书题目。

但普林斯顿大学非常看重学生的英语学术写作能力。因为除了补充文书的要求，普林斯顿大学都会有一个Graded Written Paper。

顾名思义，就是一篇由学生独立写作的，带有老师分数或者评级的，选自课内的课程作业或考试论文，但是必须符合学术写作要求的作文。

通过评价申请者们的 Graded Written Paper，大学招生官们可以客观、准确地评估他们在学术领域的书面表达能力。

普林斯顿大学对这份论文做出了四个要求：

• 这篇文章一定是申请者在高中课内阶段写的，最好是英语课、社会科学课或历史课程的相关论文
• 申请者可以提交课程论文、研究论文或考试论文，任何学术写作文本都可以
• 1-2页的篇幅就足够了
• 该论文必须包括老师的评分和点评意见

此外，对于国际学生，普林斯顿招生办还强调，就是这篇Paper必须是英文写成的，但可以是学生从自己 O-level/A-level 等在校课程里挑选出来的作业。

从上面藤校的文书题目要求我们可以感受出，美国大学不仅是通过一篇文书来深入了解你的背景，更多地，也是在考察学生的英文写作水平、批判性思维能力、思考力等。
