CESASC invited seasoned professionals from different fields to introduce their daily lives, their experiences, and the current trend in their fields. Each PING Talks session will be an online zoom seminar, starting with about 15-20min of interviews, and following up with about 30min of Q&A time.
The third session of the PING Talks features Dr. Xiahua Wei from University of Washington. Dr. Wei is also a recipient of 2010 CESASC Scholarship. The online seminar will be hosted on Nov. 19th, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm PST.
Dr. Xiahua Wei
Dr. Xiahua Wei is an associate professor of economics with tenure at the University of Washington. She is an applied econometrician in the economics of information technology(IT). Her research is motivated by technology, innovation, and competition in IT-enabled markets such as crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, fintech, user-generated content, and network industries. Her empirical research aims at discovering the effects of public policies on market competition, the design of mechanisms, and the management of innovation and customer strategies that can improve market efficiency and enhance innovation. She is an interdisciplinary scholar with expertise at the intersection of economics, management information systems, operations management, and marketing. Her research has been published in premier business journals such as Management Information Systems Quarterly and Production and Operations Management.
Dr. Wei obtained her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of California, San Diego. She also holds dual Masters’ degrees in Economics and Management Science from the University of California, Irvine, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Fudan University(with a concentration in International Economics and Trade).
