UNNC 2022/23 Academic Year Careers and Employability Annual Report released

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China(UNNC)2022/23 Academic Year Careers and Employability Annual Report has been released.

Over 90% of 2023 undergraduates went to further study, among which nearly 30% were admitted by the world's top 10 universities, over 70% by the world's top 50 universities, and over 90% entered the world's top 100 universities. Some of them received direct doctoral admission offers from renowned universities such as the University of Oxford, the University College London, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, etc. Undergraduates choosing to continue their studies are distributed across 19 countries and regions worldwide, with the top three being:the UK(51.1%), the United States(20.9%), and Australia(13.1%).  The programmes with the highest proportion of students admitted to the world's top 50 universities are Environmental Engineering(96.0%), Chemical Engineering(93.8%), and Statistics(86.7%). Among the undergraduates choosing to enter the job market directly, about 80% were employed by Fortune 500 companies, well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises, government agencies, and public institutions, such as L'Oréal, Louis Vuitton, PwC, Iflytek, Midea, and ByteDance.

Of postgraduate students, 84.8% proceeded directly to work, while 6.7% continued onto further education, 1.5% engaged in freelance work and 2.3% decided to start up a business. For postgraduates who chose to work after graduation, about 91.7% went to Fortune 500 companies, well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises, government agencies, and public institutions including KPMG, PwC, Ernst & Young, HSBC Bank, Louis Vuitton, Geely, and Xiaomi. In terms of location, 79.6% of them chose to work in first-tier cities and economically developed areas such as Zhejiang, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Guangdong.

100% of PhD graduates achieved high-quality employment. 77.8% held teaching and research positions in universities such as Nanyang Technological University, Zhejiang University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and Beijing Jiaotong University. 14.8% headed to work in scientific research and design institutions such as Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology & Engineering, CAS, and ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Centre. Another 7.4% found jobs in well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises such as China Minsheng Bank and Philips.

As for International and China's Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan graduates, 21.3% of them chose to stay in China for further education or employment whereas 78.7% chose to study and work overseas, according to the latest statistics. Employers include renowned companies both globally and in China, such as Ernst & Young, Deloitte, PwC, and Mercedes-Benz. Many postgraduates and doctoral graduates are employed in universities, such as Newcastle University, the University of New South Wales, the University of Sussex, and the Policy Institute at King's College London.

UNNC is dedicated to providing all students with comprehensive, professional, and tailor-made guidance. So far, nearly one thousand renowned enterprises have registered on the careers system of the university, providing employment activities, job postings, application channels, and skills enhancement services. UNNC has developed long-term cooperative links with various enterprises, such as Publicis Groupe, GroupM, KPMG, Bloomberg, Mars, Boeing, and P&G. The Internship Fair, Career Carnival, Golden Interns Award, employer presentations, and other high-quality events bring students opportunities to enhance their practical abilities and skills. UNNC brings together mentors, experts, and enterprises to form a guiding force, providing students with career-planning consultations. For students who want to continue their studies, UNNC invites renowned universities such as the University of Cambridge, University College London, Columbia University, the University of Chicago, and the National University of Singapore to hold recruitment activities and provides systematic help, such as mock exams, one-to-one guidance, and alumni sharing sessions, to open up the path for students to apply to prestigious universities.
