Calling for Volunteers at APEX's 19th Annual Youth Olympics!
Held
on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the Los Angeles Police Academy, this
day-long event of activities, games, prizes, lunch, and
entertainment benefits 150-200 local, at-risk youths!
We
need you! We are currently looking for volunteers to act as activity
coordinators, team leaders, and more, throughout this fun-filled day.

Only Twice a Year! Volunteer at the OC Illumination Foundation

APEX Cares on Saturday, April 13, from 8:00AM-12:30PM, as we volunteer
with the Illumination Foundation's Health Expo at Santa Ana High School.
This bi-annual event provides FREE medical, dental, and vision care to
nearly 2,000 under-served individuals.
Come, show off your skills and sign up!
We need help with, but not limited to, set-up, tear-down, translation,
hospitality, and general assistance throughout the event.

APEX Mentoring Program（AMP）Gets Rolling!
On
Thursday, March 21, 2013, 30 pairs of mentors and mentees met for the
first time at AMP's Opening Ceremony! In addition, the entire group of
participants had the opportunity to know one another with clever
icebreaker games. APEX's Professional Development team presented to over 60 attendees about the benefits of joining the program, and this year's themes, which will focus on diversity and branding oneself in the workplace.

Strong Showing of Support at OC Spring Mixer!
On
Wednesday, March 13, APEX hosted its first OC Mixer in 2013 at Newport
Beach's beautiful Ten Asian Bistro Restaurant. Over 130 working
professionals from the OC and LA area came together for a night of
networking, good fun, and good food.
APEX
spotlighted leading non-profit organizations in the OC community
including Project Motivate, NAAAP-OC, the Illumination Foundation, and
the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, as the Spring Mixer's theme showcased volunteerism, "Professionals Who Care：It's About the Community."

Animation Themed, Kids Reading to Succeed!
APEX
Cares members volunteered with Kids Reading to Succeed, Saturday, March
2, at the Union Rescue Mission homeless shelter in downtown Los
Angeles. APEX volunteers worked with youth at the shelter to develop
their reading comprehension skills. The children were also visited by
Geoffrey Wheeler, an animator and storyboard artist at Walt Disney
Studios, who led a workshop demonstrating how to draw Disney characters
and create a storyboard.
