Abstract

Michael Sun would like to share his own experience of job hunting and career development in America, especially the  experience in pursuing alternative careers after PhD. He will discuss what you can do during study to prepare for the job market. He would like to share his view on a few blindspots common among Chinese students and how to overcome them. Finally he would like to offer some encouragement and optimism.   

About The Speaker

Michael Sun is a Principal Engineer at Jumptap, Inc. Michael has eighteen years of experience of software system architecture, design, and development in the fields of big data, data warehouse, data analytics, statistics, databases, and distributed systems. Michael Sun has a BS in physics from USTC. He came to US in CUSPEA program. He holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard.

　　孙跃敏是在Jumptap的首席工程师，有18多年的软件系统架构的设计和开发，范围包括大数据，数据仓库，数据分析，统计，数据库系统和分布式计算系统领域的开发经验。他有中国科学技术大学物理学学士学位。他以李政道项目（CUSPEA）到美国。他拥有哈佛大学应用物理学博士学位。
