The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of South Florida has a tenure-track position in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor on our main(Tampa)campus starting August 7, 2014. A Ph.D. in Statistics or Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics is required by July 15th, 2014. The Department seeks expertise in both the theory and practice of Statistics with a significant data-driven component in research and teaching activities. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of, or potential for, excellence both in research and teaching. The candidate hired to this position will be expected to maintain a vigorous research program, seek external research funding, teach effectively and develop a satisfactory record of service. Consulting experience in Statistics is desirable.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Statistics or Mathematics with statistics concentration with a strong interest in teaching undergraduates at the university. Job will involve coordinating graduate teaching assistants and teaching courses with enrollment of more than 100 students. The instructor will have the equivalent of a 12-hour teaching load.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in mathematics or a related field with experience relevant to teaching lower-level mathematics courses using computer-assisted instruction and active learning methods.
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field. Potential to contribute to scholarship of teaching and learning in undergraduate mathematics courses is a plus.
