Shenzhen Bay Super City International Competition

According to the latest comprehensive urban planning of Shenzhen, areas surrounding the Shenzhen Bay will become the most important section in the broader area of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Shenzhen Bay will be the power house for Shenzhen, inspiring the city to be one of the best in the world. From the west to the east, it will have a Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation section for the modern service industry at the front, a business district at the back and the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base.

NAROS UPDATE

NAROS Attended the 13th San Diego Bio-Pharma Conference

North American Representative Office of Shenzhen attended the 13th San Diego Bio-Pharma Conference on June 21th. This whole day event includes three sessions, respectively, exhibition, presentation and plenary discussion. Many San Diego based biopharmaceutical companies, research institutions and venture capitalist are gathered in this event.

Prestigious scholars and business leaders shared their insights on industry trends and success stories. Panelists include Dr. Alan Lewis, the CEO at Medistem; Dr. Dale Boger the Chiar of Department of Chemistry at Scripps Research Institute., etc.

NAROS Visited the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology（Calit2）

North American Representative Office of Shenzhen visited the California Plug Load Research Center（CalPlug）under the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology（Calit2）in UCI on June 24th. CalPlug was established to improve energy efficiency in the use and design of appliances and consumer electronic devices. The founding board members include the California Energy Commission, Southern California Edison, Broadcom Corporation, the Consumer Electronics Association and UCI leadership.

The Technical director Arthur Zhang gave NAROS a detailed and insightful tour on Calplug’s cooperation projects with private and public entities in California.

Shenzhen to hold first-ever auction of carbon permits

Shenzhen will auction 200,000 carbon permits to help the city’s big emitters meet their targets under an emissions trading scheme.

But speculators who had bought permits in the market in the hope of selling them to emitters at a profit, said the minimum auction price was too low and could scupper their resale plans.

When I mentioned to friends I was heading across the border, I received advice as varied as "bring a money belt, it is full of thieves" to "avoid the train station" - no easy task if you are travelling by train.
