Job Description- Intern

2. Job Summary |
Assist the Clinical Director and Program Managers with Administrative tasks. Provide 1:1 paraprofessional support for children ages 4 years to 22 years of age within the school system diagnosed with autism and related disorders. The Intern provides consistency treatment with the involvement of the child’s teachers to implement goals and objectives outlined in the Functional Behavior Assessment.

3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
Knowledge Required:Knowledge of regional center, department of social services, department of developmental services, and state council on developmental disabilities, clinical knowledge.
Skills Required:Technical proficiency, organization skills, time management, good written and verbal communication, reading comprehension.
Abilities Required:Innovating, interact effectively with management, maintain confidentiality, adaptability, positive attitude, work ethic, responsibility, ability to type 60 words per minute, creativity, multi-cultural awareness, research.

4. Education and Experience |
Minimum Education:High School diploma, Bachelors degree in progress in psychology, social sciences, business or related field.
Minimum Experience:One year administrative experience accompanied with professional or voluntary experience working with children displaying interfering behaviors and/or with a diagnosis of autism or other developmental disabilities. |
5. Essential Functions |
- Perform general administrative tasks
- Attend and prepare for Company sponsored events
- Research information for use to inspire current and new clients to cope with their child’s diagnosis. Research recruiting ideas, appropriate job fairs and colleges to use as recruitment sources
- Administer social media. Compile information from Program Managers to post on social media
- Prepare training materials and equipment for New Hire Orientations and other trainings
- Maintain referral information for cold calls
- Answer phones, make phone calls
- Scan and organize files
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required
- In school visitation to perform 1:1 session with clients(children)with autism and related developmental disabilities with school staff involvement as part of the clinical team
- Work a flexible schedule which includes traveling(driving personal vehicle)to client’s home or to the community within 20 miles radius or more
- Implement behavior plans and interventions to achieve client’s goals as directed by the Clinical Supervisor
- Encourage school staff involvement on teaching skills goals
- Observe, implement, and collect data into client notes system on a daily basis
- Maintain a positive relationship, trust, and communication with client and school staff
- Provide information and/or collection of data in a professional manner to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, text messaging, or in person
- Report to supervisor(s)and appropriate agencies any suspected abuse according to applicable laws and regulations
- Collaborate and participate with the clinical team during team meetings
- Attend regular staff meetings; participate in on-going trainings, in-service sessions, and other meetings as scheduled
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required

7. Physical Requirements |
The essential functions of the Intern position are performed in an office environment. This position is required to occasionally push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs. plus, climbing, running, crawling, and touching. Frequently keying/fingering, standing, and walking. Constantly driving, traveling, bending, hearing, reaching, seeing, speaking, kneeling, twisting neck, twisting waist, feeling, and balancing.

8. Other Requirements |
This position will require a valid California ID or Driver’s License. Candidate must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to background check, physical etc. If required to drive, candidate must possess proof of valid insurance and registration.
