Internet of Things(IoT) has been regarded by many as one of the greatest transformational forces in our time. Gartner estimates that IoT will generate 1.9 trillion of economic value-add in 2020. In healthcare alone, IoT is expected to add $285B provider value to global economy. McKinsey puts the economic value-add at $6.2 trillion annually by 2025.
Despite the bullish promise, the road to IoT greatness is at best unpaved. IoT market is still largely in its infancy, with plenty of unanswered questions - what obstacles could prove treacherous? What is the role of standards in resolving them? What does it take to securely connect 50 billion things of all imaginable shapes and extract value from them?
Finally, what can we all do to accelerate the growth of this promising industry right here in New England? NECINA has invited prominent IoT leaders to share their perspectives on this fascinating topic.
