Dear Trojan Parents and Family Members,
USC Trojan Family Weekend is just around the corner! The campus will be buzzing with family members spending time with their students and experiencing events including President Nikias’ annual address, deans receptions, informative sessions, learning about Trojan traditions and attending the Thursday night football game.
Also, there are many events and activities for students and parents for the remainder of the semester. Be sure to visit the Upcoming Parent Events calendar for more information.
News from the Office for Parent Programs:
Trojan Family Weekend 2014 is Thursday, November 13 through Sunday, November 16. This is a great way for the entire family to share in your student’s USC journey and experience what it means to be part of the spirited Trojan Family. The Thursday night football game is against Pac-12 rival California Bears. For Trojan Family Weekend registration, click here, call 213.740.6775 or email scparent@usc.edu. Here’s some important registration information:
- Trojan Family Weekend registration closes at 5pm PST on Monday, November 10.
- On-site registration(if available):Registration fee is $150 per adult, $125 per child(ages 10-17). Some events may be at capacity.
*** Football tickets are not included in the registration fee. Registration packets will be available for pick-up at the Trojan Family Weekend Welcome Tent(located in Herklotz Plaza)from 7am – 3pm on Thursday, November 13 and Friday, November 14.

USC Career Center Seeks Parent Volunteers with Human Resources Backgrounds The USC Career Center is seeking parents with a background in human resources, or related fields, to join the Executive Volunteer Program. Volunteers provide professional advice to students(from freshmen to Ph.D. candidates)regarding their resumes and cover letters. The time commitment is one day per week for four hours(preferably 11:30am - 3:30pm)up to five weeks. Volunteers must have a bachelor’s degree with more than seven years of experience in human resources, recruiting, onboarding, talent management, workforce development, outplacement services or related fields. Interested applicants should email their resume to careers@usc.edu with “Executive Volunteer Program” in the subject line.
Thanksgiving Match-up Offered by USC Office of International Services The Thanksgiving Match-Up program offers the USC international community a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience the Thanksgiving holiday with an American family in the Los Angeles area. USC Volunteer Center Fundraiser supports the Alternative Breaks Program The USC Volunteer Center will be auctioning off a number of fun and unique items to raise the necessary funds to allow USC students to participate in the 2014 - 2015 Alternative Breaks Program. This year, the Alternative Breaks Program offers exciting winter break trips to India and Thailand. In India, students will be promoting community development through education and female empowerment. In Thailand, students will be working in an orphanage. 100% of the proceeds will go towards giving USC students the once in a lifetime opportunity to volunteer around the world. The auction will be taking place Friday, November 14 - Sunday, November 23. For more information, click here.
Free Student Parking Offered During the Holiday Break The USC Department of Public Safety and USC Transportation Services offer free parking for students during the Thanksgiving holiday break through GIFT(Group Initiative For Theft prevention). Important 2014 Dates from the USC Career Center
Global Fellows Internship Program Information Session The USC Global Fellows Internship Program encourages exploration of international work experience in Asia. Open to U.S. citizens of all majors, this competitive program provides stipends for USC undergraduates. Students have the opportunity to live and work in Asia for eight weeks during the summer. Information sessions will be held in Student Union(STU), Trojan Presentation Room(B3)from noon – 1pm Thursday November 6 and Thursday November 13. Free Monthly Tours of the USC Shoah Foundation Discover how the life stories and memories of Holocaust survivors and witnesses are being used to overcome prejudice, intolerance and bigotry through visual history and education programs all over the world. This behind the scenes tour will show how testimonies are digitized and translated into the Shoah Foundation archived format for translation into ten languages, indexing and preservation. Join Professionals for an Informative Dinner on Careers in the Health Field Every semester, the USC Dornsife Pre-Health Advising Team hosts numerous events and workshops. Fall events are geared towards those who are interested in pursuing a career within the health professions. Join current health professionals(primarily in optometry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, nursing and public health)as they introduce an array of careers and share their experiences.
