PUAASC 2010 Annual Convention

Dear All:

We would like to cordially invite you and members of your organization to the 2010 Annual Convention of the Peking University Alumni Association of Southern California（PUAASC）, at the Diamond Bar Golf Club on Sunday May 9, 2010. The Convention will start at 4pm. During the convention, Liuliu（六六）, a well-known young Chinese writer and author of several popular books such as “Wo Ju”（《蜗居》A Romance of House）, will join us as a guest speaker in a forum in the afternoon. Dr. Lin Jianhua（林建华常务副校长）, Provost and Executive Vice President of Peking University, will be presented as our keynote speaker during the dinner.

Dr. Lin studied at Peking University from 1978 to 1986, and obtained his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Chemistry. He started teaching at Peking University in 1986. From 1988 to 1993, he did post-doctoral research at the Max-Plank Institute of Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany and the Department of Chemistry, Iowa State University, US. Before he was appointed to be the Executive Vice President and Provost of Peking University in 2004, he had been the Dean of the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University, and later the Provost and Vice President of Peking University. As a distinguished scientist in Solid State Chemistry and New Material Chemistry, Dr. Lin received the Chinese National Award in 1995 for his research work.

Liuliu was named as "the leading figure of the third generation of overseas Chinese women writers" by the Chinese media. Her first novel "Wanggui and Anna"（《王贵与安娜》）, published in 2003, won her instant fame among the Chinese netizens. Three of her novels, "Shuangmianjiao"（《双面胶》）, "Wanggui and Anna" and "A Romance of House"（"Dwelling Narrowness"）, were made into TV series and all became instant hot hits in China after their release.

南加知青协会2014年春节联欢会今晚在协会活动室举办，欢迎各位会员和亲友踊跃参加。晚会提供晚餐，
表演文艺节目，大家欢聚一堂，庆马年，行好运，漫歌舞，迎新春。请所有节目组演员、后勤组、会场布置组、音响组5点钟准时入场。演员带好各自的服装、腰鼓、乐器、道具、化妆品。后勤等其他服务人员带好必要的用品。演员朋友如果还能联系到会打腰鼓的会员，动员他们来参加这次腰鼓表演。请老马再准备5个腰鼓备用。
