Intel shows foresight in hookup with Shenzhen's white boxers
Intel, the world's largest semiconductor chip maker, has spared no efforts implementing its CTE(China technology ecosystem)initiative in Shenzhen over the past two years to set up a Chinese technology ecosystem and white-box industry chain as part of its efforts to build a solid presence in the mobile terminal market, the Beijing-based Caixin Weekly reports.
Intel launched the CTE scheme in early 2013, when a group of senior executives led by its senior vice president Kirk Skaugen began to visit potential partners in Shenzhen, including Emdoor Digital, a provider of ODM services for tablet PCs and other electronics products with only 250 employees. They conducted negotiations with Emdoor general manager Shi Yong in the firm's cafeteria and 10 days later decided to allow the local company to improve designs and choose supply chain for tablets fully on its own.
