Dear CESASC members and friends,

This is a reminder that the application for the following programs organized by our organization（CESASC）are approaching to the deadline. Please act quickly. The recipients are to be invited to the CESASC Annual Convention on April 23, 2016.

1. 2016 CESASC Scholarship

The scholarship amount is about $1000 each. All scholarship recipients are invited to the CESASC Annual Convention and network with professionals in the fields. Graduate student recipients may also be invited to present their research work at the CESASC Annual Convention. Each scholarship recipient will be paired up with a mentor who is a CESASC member.

In the past eight years, CESASC gave away more than $70,000 in scholarships awarded to more than sixty excellent students. The 2016 Scholarship application form and FAQ files are attached for your convenience. 2. 2016 CESASC STEM Essay Contest

We invites 6th to 12th grade students to participate in the 2016 "Future Technology That Can Improve Human Life" essay competition. The competition is divided into two groups; Group one for 6th to 8th grade students and Group two for 9th to 12th grade students.

This contest is intended for kids to develop their interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics（STEM）and to bring together writing and expression skills from the mind of the youngster in view of a future technology. A student may choose any technology that impacts human life.

Prizes:

• 1st place - $500 and a trophy
• 2nd place - $250 and a trophy
• 3rd place - $100 and a trophy

Winners’ names will be announced publicly through CESASC website and social media. Winners and their families are invited to present their winning entries and receive the prizes at the CESASC 54th Annual Convention on April 23, 2016.

Important Dates and Deadlines

• January 1, 2016 – Start of Contest
• March 10, 2016 – Submission Deadline
• March 30, 2016 – Winners Notified and Announced
• April 23, 2016 – Winning Entries Presentation and Public Award Ceremony

3. 2016 Student Business Innovation Competition
Students are invited to participate in the 2016 "Student Business Innovation Competition". The top winning team will be awarded a paid round trip for one of its team members to a business venture camp in Suzhou, China in summer 2016, sponsored by the Suzhou Industrial Park-University of California, Los Angeles Institute for Technology Advancement（SIP-UCLA ITA）.

The competition serves as a launch pad for innovative business ventures from aspiring student entrepreneurs by providing mentoring and exposure. It is open to college and graduate students as well as post-doctoral scholars. Based on submitted abstracts and business plans, 6-8 finalists will be chosen to present their business plans to a panel of judges on April 23, 2016 during the 54th CESASC annual convention day program. Winners will be announced at the CESASC annual convention evening gala.

Prizes

1. First place：A paid round trip for one team member（airfare Los Angeles -Suzhou, China and local lodging expenses）in Summer 2016.
2. Second-place：two awardees（Certificate Award）
3. Third-place：three awardees（Certificate Award）
4. Best Innovation Award（Certificate Award）

Important Dates and Deadlines:

• February 29, 2016：Last day to submit all application materials
• March 31, 2016：Finalists announced
• April 23, 2016（afternoon）：Presentation by the finalists at the 54th CESASC convention
• April 23, 2016（evening）：Winners announced at the 54th CESASC convention gala.
