Shandong University was founded in 1901, under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, is a key comprehensive university with a long history, a variety of disciplines, strong academic strength, and distinctive characteristics, which has great influence both at home and abroad. Shandong University is a member university of Project 211 and Project 985, two national key construction projects to support the development of high-quality universities. Shandong University is one of the initiative universities of modern Chinese higher education.
山东大学医学学科起源于1864年创办的登州文会馆，历经共和医道学堂、齐鲁大学医学院、山东医学院、山东医科大学、山东大学齐鲁医学部等历史发展时期，素有“北协和、南湘雅、东齐鲁、西华西”的美誉，今天已成为中国医学科教重镇。
The history of medicine discipline of Shandong University can be traced back to 1864 when Tengchow Wen Hui Kuan was built. It has experienced various historical stages of Shantung Union Medical, Medical School of Cheeloo University, Shandong Medical College, Shandong Medical University and now, Cheeloo College of Medicine（CCOM）, Shandong University, which has the honor of “Northern Union, Southern XiangYa, Eastern Cheeloo, Western West China”（They are the four most brilliant medical colleges）. Today, it plays indispensable role in medical technology and education field in China.
近百年来，山东大学医学学科汇聚了一大批享誉海内外的医学名家，江清教授、侯宝璋教授、尤家骏教授、赵常林教授、兰锡纯教授、孙鸿泉教授、宫乃泉教授、张汇泉教授、李缵文教授、苏应宽教授、周廷冲院士、黄翠芬院士、洪涛院士、张运院士、谢立信院士、于金明院士等，他们分别是我国医学各有关学科的奠基人和开拓者之一。
In the last century, CCOM has recruited a large number of well-known domestic and foreign experts and scholars, for example, Professor Qing Jiang, Professor Baozhang Hou, Professor Jiajun You, Professor Changlin Zhao , Professor Xichun Lan, Professor Hongquan Sun, Professor Naiquan Gong, Professor Huiquan Zhang, Professor Zanwen Li, Professor Yingkuan Su, Academician Tingchong Zhou, Academician Cuifen Huang, Academician Tao Hong, Academician Yun Zhang, Academician Lixin Xie and Academician Jinming Yu, etc. All of them are founders and pioneers of in medical science of China.
山东大学齐鲁医学部现有人体解剖与组织胚胎学、内科学、妇产科学、流行病与卫生统计学等4个二级学科国家级重点学科；国家糖工程技术中心、国家辅助生殖与优生工程技术研究中心等2个国家工程技术研究中心；心血管重构与功能研究教育部与卫生部重点实验室、实验畸形学教育部重点实验室、耳鼻咽喉科学卫生部重点实验室、生殖内分泌教育部重点实验室、卫生经济与政策研究中心卫生部重点实验室、天然产物化学生物学教育部重点实验室等6个部级重点实验室；医学神经生物学、血液病学、感染免疫、卫生毒理学、口腔生物医学、药物分子设计和创新药物等6个山东省重点实验室；临床医学、基础医学、公共卫生与预防医学、药学、口腔医学等5个博士后科研流动站；基础医学、临床医学、生物学、生物医学工程学、公共卫生与预防医学、口腔医学、药学、护理学等8个一级学科博士学位授权点。根据最新公布的ESI数据，临床医学、药理学与毒理学、神经科学与行为、免疫学、生物学与生物化学、分子生物学与遗传学等6门学科进入ESI前1%。其中，临床医学世界排名进入前1.5‰。
CCOM now has 4 national key disciplines, which includes Human Anatomy and Embryology, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Epidemiology and Health Statistics. In addition, Medicinal Chemistry belongs to national key cultivation discipline. For the research center in national level, CCOM has National Glycoengineering Research Center and National Assisted Reproductive Eugenic Engineering Technology Research Center.
Also many research institutes have sponsored by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health in China, such as Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling and Function Research and Health（ Ministry of Education）, Key Laboratory of Experimental Dysmorphology（ Ministry of Education）, Key Laboratory of Otorhinolaryngology（Ministry of Health）, Key Laboratory of Reproductive Endocrine（Ministry of Education）, Key Laboratory of Hygienic Economy and Policy Research（ Ministry of Health）, Key Laboratory of Natural Product Biochemistry（Ministry of Education）.
In addition, six institute have been approved as Provincial Key Lab（Medical Neurobiology, Hematology, Infection and Immunity, Health Toxicology, Oral Biomedicine, Drug Design and Innovative Medicine）and seventeen disciplines have been approved as Provincial Key Disciplines（ Human Anatomy and Embryology, Immunology, Pathogenic Biology, Pathology and Pathophysiology, Internal Medicine, Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Otorhinolaryngology, Genetics, Geriatrics, Neurology, Pharmacology, Clinical Stomatology, Medicinal Chemistry, Microbiological and Biochemical Pharmacy and Nursing）.
Up to date, five post-doctoral research positions were open, such as Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy and Stomatology. The disciplines of Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Stomatology, Pharmacy and Nursing can provide Doctor of Medicine or Ph.D program. According to the newest statistics, six disciplines, clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, neurology and behavior, immunology, biology and biological chemistry and molecular chemistry and genetics, have become the rank top 1% of the ESI, of which clinical medicine ranks top 1.5 ‰.
山东大学齐鲁医学部现有公共卫生学院、基础医学院、临床医学院、口腔医学院、护理学院、药学院、医药卫生管理学院等7个学院，齐鲁医院、第二医院、口腔医院、附属生殖医院等4所直属附属医院，9所非隶属附属医院和教学医院，以及高等医学研究院，具有完善的教学科研体系。
CCOM now has seven schools, which includes School of Basic Medical Sciences, School of Clinical Medical Sciences, School of Stomatology, School of Public Health, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Nursing and School of Health Care Management. Also CCOM has four affiliated hospitals-- Cheeloo Hospital, Second Hospital of Shandong University, Reproductive Hospital and Dentistry Hospital. In addition, nine non-affiliated hospitals belong to our teaching hospitals, which are also well-known in Shandong province with high medical and academic level.

CCOM of Shandong University is located in the beautiful “Spring City”, Jinan, which is praised as “Decorated by lotuses and surrounded by willows, the whole mountain scenery is reflected on the surface of half-city lake”（As a famous pair of couplet said）. At the root of Qianfo Mountain and besides Baotu Spring, our campus is located in the original site of Cheeloo University.
