01:Manager, Tutoring & Academic Skills(short-term contract)
The Academic Resource Center(ARC)is intended to assist students in developing the knowledge base, skills, and strategies that will help them to become confident, independent, and active learners. It provides academic support to help students meet the challenge of NYU's rigorous academic standards.
The Manager for Tutoring & Academic Skills oversees the discipline-specific Learning Assistants(student tutors)within the Office of Academic Affairs.
02: Academic Advisor(short-term contract)
Academic Advisors assist students as they develop meaningful educational plans compatible with their life goals. They serve as a source of information about the degree requirements, policies, and procedures of the university and meet with students to discuss individualized academic questions and concerns.
The advisors serve as a liaison with other offices on student cases and make referrals for students to university resources as appropriate. While the ultimate responsibility for making decisions about life and educational plans rests with each individual student, academic advisors assist students by suggesting options and by discussing possible outcomes of the choices they make. 、
03: Fellow, Academic Affairs
The Fellow position is to support faculty in their teaching and perform administrative tasks in the Academic Affairs office. Meanwhile, the fellow will also work with offices both within and out of the Academic Affairs Department to plan and implement various academic programs as assigned.
04: Fellow, Student Life
This position will engage with a team of innovators in higher education, providing critical support to undergraduates during an unprecedented time while navigating a new and transient learning environment.
Those that have an interest in supporting students’ personal growth through structured and intentional learning opportunities, fostering community building, and cultivating inter-connectedness among students, staff & faculty. You will serve as a resource and advisor to a cohort of students, enforcing university community standards, and assisting with daily crisis response coverage.
05: Fellow, Faculty Services
The Fellow, Faculty Services Associates will be responsible for faculty’s on/off-boarding and daily non-academic logistical support. Specific duties may include one-on-one assistance for faculty’s entry into China & quarantine settlement, office space set-up and supplies acquisition, daily business-related logistical needs, and(sometimes)navigation through obstacles with their life in Shanghai. You will serve as their key bridge to troubleshoot problems and resolve crises.
06: Fellow, Graduate and Advanced Education
The Fellow, Graduate and Advanced Graduation will be responsible for supporting the various affairs of the Office of Graduate and Advanced Education(OGAE), which promotes educational initiatives beyond the undergraduate level at NYU Shanghai by overseeing the formation and management of master’s, professional, and doctoral education, and other closely related non-degree programs.
Fellows will have a variety of responsibilities spanning all aspects of university administration, from student life/affairs, community-building, event planning, communications, faculty support, crisis response, and admissions. Fellows will be important relationship managers with graduate students, faculty, and administration, and must be responsive to their needs in all aspects.
07: Fellow, Library Assistant
The Fellow, Library Assistant will work in the Access and User Services Team to help manage library space and collections, provide critical user services such as circulation, course reserves, and ILL, coordinate materials paging between different buildings and answer user inquiries about library collections and services.
This position provides a rare insight of how a research library operates and is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain new skills and professional development.
08: Fellow, Data Services Assistant, Library
The Fellow, Data Services Assistant will support teaching data skills and helping students work with data. The individual will help teach and facilitate teaching data skills on manipulating, analyzing, and visualizing data with tools of R, Stata, and Tableau.
This position is excellent for graduate students or recent graduates looking to gain teaching skills in data science and relevant fields in a highly international institution.
09: Fellow, Digital Learning Assistant, Library
The Fellow, Digital Learning Assistant will work in the Research and Instructional Services team to help enable and support remote and mix-mode learning in Fall 2020. The individual will support a portfolio of digital tools such as NYU classes, zoom, and voicethread, help with testing and customizations of instruction scenarios, assist with video and other media editing and polishing, and contribute to customer consultations and training.
This position is excellent for graduate students or recent graduates looking to gain teaching skills in data science and relevant fields in a highly international institution.
10: Fellow, Teaching Associate for Interactive Media Arts/Business
The TA will work to maintain and improve the sense of community and inquisitive spirit that is inherent to IMA/IMB. Enthusiastic dedication and previous experience in a similar(under)graduate program are essential.
11: Fellow, Teaching Associate for Engineering, Computer Science and Data Science
The Fellow, Teaching Associate’s commitments will include leading programming labs, preparing labs and assignments, grading assignments and exams, providing one-on-one support to students, and possibly leading recitations(depending on the course). The TA will be under the direction of the NYU Shanghai Computer Science and Data Science faculty.
