We are excited to announce the 19th annual  YOUNG MATHEMATICIANS CONFERENCE(YMC)at The Ohio State University, August 12 - 14, 2022(Fri-Sun).Information about this year's conference has been posted and will beupdated at https://ymc.osu.edu/
# ABOUT YMC 2022YMC is an annual conference for undergraduate research in mathematicsfor students in REUs and similar programs around the country.  Successful applicants are invited /with full travel support/ to present their research and interact with peer and senior participants. Invitations to YMC are competitive due to limited space and budget. We expect to invite and fully support around seventy student presenters, and hope to be able to provide partial support for accompanying mentors who are also invited to apply.# APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPENIn order to apply please visit https://ymc.math.osu.edu/2022/apply.php and carefully follow all instructions. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the applicant resources in order to improve their submitted abstracts. The deadline for applications is the end of June (Eastern time). The review of applications by a panel of mathematics faculty will start immediately after this deadline. We expect to make decisions on the bulk of invitations by July 10.# SPECIAL EVENTSBesides the student presentations, we are delighted to have the following distinguished speakers to deliver plenary talks at YMC 2022: Jeff Diller(Norte Dame University) Julia Plavnik(Indiana University) Isabel Vogt(Brown University)As in previous years we will have our "Graduate School Orientation"event with invited representatives from several different US graduateprograms in mathematics. At this popular venue questions ranging fromchoices of schools, nuts and bolts of applications, and what life islike as a grad student are discussed. As usual, we will provide many opportunities for interaction betweenjunior and senior conference participants.# JUDGINGApplications will be judged and scored after the submission deadline by a panel of mathematics faculty so that we expect most decisions to be available by July 10. More info on the selection process, including tips for writing abstracts, is available during the application process.## Judges WantedIf you are interested in undergraduate research, hold a mathematicsPh.D.(preferably faculty position), have 5 or so hours' time andinternet access in the days following the deadline, and would like tohelp with judging please email us at ymc@math.osu.eduThe conference is supported by NSF Grant DMS-1916606, Ohio StateDepartment of Mathematics, Ohio State Mathematical Research Instituteand the College of Arts and Sciences.YMC 2022 Organizing Committee Rodica Costin(The Ohio State University) Jim Fowler(The Ohio State University) John Johnson(The Ohio State University) Liz Vivas(The Ohio State University)

Dear Colleagues across the globe, wherever you are, greetings,

It is with great pleasure to inform you of the availability of Volume 17, Issue 1 (June 2022) of Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM) in its 17th year of existence. This volume, with attached Table of Contents, contains 17 papers with 271 pages of quality papers, peer-reviewed and in all mathematical sciences, statistics, operations research, physics and engineering. This Issue, as well as others, can be viewed at http://www.pvamu.edu/aam. The next regular issue will appear next year, in December 2022.

To strengthening the credibility of AAM and to prevent plagiarism, AAM is using the Turnitin software as part of its review process. Manuscripts with rates higher than 25% of duplications are being rejected. Thus, with this task and pre-review of manuscripts, a high percentage of arriving manuscripts are being rejected before going under full review. This will enhance the processing times of the AAM staff and reviewers. Additionally, under new AAM policy, no part of any published material, such as definitions, theorems, lemmas, and propositions, of other authors already published in books and journals is allowed to be included in a submitted manuscript. However, contents of such materials could be presented in a paragraph with proper citations. Please be informed that, currently, publication in and access to AAM is free of charge and the contents from AAM publications are included in and/or indexed by (in alphabetical order):

American Mathematical Society, Mathematical Review (MathSciNet®),
Cabell Publishing, Inc., Cabell’s International,
CPM, Current Mathematical Publications,
EBSCO (http://www.ebscohost.com/) information products,
ESCI, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Clarivate Analytics products, (http://wokinfo.com/media/pdf/ESCI_Fact_Sheet.pdf?utm_source=false&utm_medium=false&utm_campaign=false/),

Universal Impact Factor (http://uifactor.org/JournalDetails.aspx?jid=232),
Zentralblatt MATH (https://zbmath.org/journals/?s=0&c=100&q=AAM),

I want to take a moment to say “Thank you” to Dr. Aliakbar M. Haghighi, as he continues to work tirelessly and diligently to make this journal as successful as it is and as he continues to oversee the further success of the journal.

I want to congratulate all contributors, reviewers, Editorial Board members, the Journal’s Associate Editors, and my departmental colleagues for their help in various parts of publishing processes of this and other issues of AAM. They share in the success of the journal. I continue to look forward to working with everyone involved as the journal continues to evolve.

Sincerely,

James R. Valles, Jr., Ph.D.
