The United States remains thetop destination for international students and welcomed over one million international students in the 2022-23 academic year.  Nearly half of all international students in the United States come from the East Asia and Pacific region. 

The United States has some of the world’s top universities.  According to the QS Universities Ranking, 27 of the top 100 universities are in the United States, more than in any other country.  International students and scholars contribute directly to the groundbreaking research at these major research universities, as well as at many of the more than 4,000 accredited institutions in the United States.

The U.S. higher education system is diverse, and international students can find an institution that will be the best fit for them academically, financially, and socially. The array of options in the United States includes community colleges, minority-serving institutions, historically Black colleges and universities, art schools and conservatories, schools offering vocational and technical programs, and more!
