COSCO Group Chairman Wei Jiafu, leads the largest Chinese shipping and logistics company and is the most high-profile Chinese CEO and Chinese business leader for both domestic and global markets.
His achievements and recognition across China are extensive. They include, "China Outstanding Business Leader in Ten Years by China Central Television(CCTV), one of the "Top 40 Most Influential People in China in 2008" by US Business Week, and one of the "Top 30 Most Influential People in China's Economy, 1978-2008" by People's Daily. He has been honored in the United States by the ports of Long Beach, Boston and New York, and has twice been given awards for his support of the American worker by the International Longshoremen's Association. In 2009, The United States House of Representatives passed a resolution naming him "People’s Ambassador to the United States of America."
Chairman Wei also serves as chairman of the China Association of Trade in Service—the Chinese organization of major state-owned and private corporations across China. He chairs the China Shipowner's Association, China Shipowner's Mutual Assurance Association and the Zhenghe Research Association. He is also Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange and China Merchants Bank.
