Scholarship Awards Application Announcement
The West America Chapter of the Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society offers six awards of $1000 in Year 2012 to undergraduate and graduate students in recognition of their academic achievements and scholarly contributions. In addition to accomplished scholars, students who are talented in areas other than the academics, such as those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in society, special talents in fine arts, or strong commitment to Chinese heritage and culture, are encouraged to apply. Awards will be presented during the annual meeting of the chapter, tentatively scheduled on April 21, 2012, to be held in a convenient location in Southern California. Except for special reasons approved by the scholarship committee, all awardees are required to attend the meeting and to give a brief presentation at the dinner/luncheon of the annual meeting.
First organized in 1921 in China and re-established in 1964 in the US as a nonprofit corporation, Phi Tau Phi is an apolitical organization that recognizes outstanding scholarship and encourages bonds of intellectual fellowship. Our members, mainly of Chinese heritage, are by election only and are accomplished in various disciplines of science, technology, art, and humanity.
