The Long Beach - Qingdao Sister City Association(LBQA)is proud to announce the 2012 – Annual LBQA China Luncheon, Friday, November 16th, at the executive dining room of Keesal, Young and Logan Law Firm, 400 Oceangate, Long Beach, CA 90802; 11:30 to 1:30 pm. This year the LBQA is once again honored to have two distinguished speakers at the luncheon, the Honorable Ambassador Qiu Shaofang, Consul General of the People's Republic of China and Keynote Speaker, Mr. Brian Wolfe, AIA, Senior Principal / Chairman, China – Perkowitz+Ruth Architects.
Honored Speaker, Los Angeles Consul General, Ambassador Qiu Shaofang, will update LBQA luncheon attendees and media with a “Year-in-Review presentation on U.S. and China Relations.” During these challenging economic times Ambassador Qiu will cover top issues important for China, the United States and our Southern California Region. Keynote speaker, Mr. Brian Wolfe, AIA, Senior Principal/Chairman, China – Perkowitz+Ruth Architects will present “Working Globally, Designing Locally,” a look at how a locally based, award-winning architectural firm has taken its expertise abroad by embracing local character and designing to best match the needs of communities across China.
“The Los Angeles Consulate is a strong supporter of LBQA and continues a more than 15 year tradition of delivering a timely, year-end perspective on China and the U.S.,” states Larry Uyeda, LBQA Chair. “This year we are also honored to have Mr. Wolfe provide a look at how U.S. architecture is making its way to China creating jobs here in the U.S. and in China.” Perkowitz+Ruth Architects, parent of local architectural firm Studio One Eleven, will also unveil a garden exhibit for the International Horticultural Expo that will debut in the City of Qingdao in 2014 in partnership with The City of Long Beach and its sustainability office; Long Beach City College’s Horticulture Program; P+R and Studio One Eleven; and The Long Beach–Qingdao Association.
SEATING IS LIMITED:Each year this luncheon sells out and has become one of the City’s and LBQA’s premiere events for the Association, its membership and guests. Reservations should be made early as this luncheon will sell out and seating is limited.($50.00 per person; $500.00 reserved sponsored tables).
The Long Beach Qingdao Sister City Association has enjoyed both Sister City and Sister Port relationships for more than 27+ years and serves as a link between the two port cities to facilitate and develop better communication through business, cultural and educational programs. Over the years LBQA has continued to develop scholarship and exchange programs for students and teachers and to facilitate business, trade, and cultural events in order to bring the southland closer to the city of Qingdao and other cities in China. With a goal of fostering good will between the U.S. and China, the Association strives to promote the highest ideals of friendship, tolerance and human understanding in light of the cultural differences and rich heritages of both countries.
