Dear CESASC Members and Friends,
The Chinese-American Engineers and Scientists Association of Southern California(CESASC)invites 8th to 12th grade students to participate in our first essay competition on the following topic:"Future Technology That Can Improve Human Life".
Founded in 1962, CESASC is one of the largest and most esteemed Chinese-American professional organizations in Southern California. Its mission is to promote the interests, aspirations and professional excellence of Chinese-American engineers and scientists by providing career and educational advancement opportunities, technical exchange, fellowship and community service.
Since September 2012, CESASC has initiated the STEM(science, technology, engineering, and mathematics )program. Under this program, CESASC will extend its education-related services to the Southern California student community with an overarching objective of stimulating the interest of the K-12 students and broadening their knowledge in science and technology.
This essay competition is intended to develop the students’ interests in STEM, along with their creative thinking, writing and presentation skills. Participants may choose to write on any field(s)of science, technology, engineering and math such as health science, environmental technology, space technology, consumer product technology, etc., that they believe would provide significant positive impact(s)to human life.
The deadline for submitting the entry is February 15, 2013, and the winners will be announced on March 15, 2013. The winners will receive a cash award and will also be invited to present their essays during the CESASC annual convention scheduled for March 30, 2013 in San Gabriel Hilton, San Gabriel, California.
Further information about this essay competition and CESASC can be found in the CESASC website http://cesasc.org/Pages/STEM.aspx. I have also attached a flyer to promote this essay competition.
