Job description

This posting is for a co-op to work on IBM Lotus products, 20-35 hours per week, on an on-going basis（that is, this is NOT bounded as a summer position）. The applicant will be working on a variety of issues involving the application of a C++ skillset - the ability to resolve technical issues（software debug）is of primary importance. Some knowledge of Java would also be desirable. Must enjoy working in a team environment, as well as being able to utilize problem determination skills on a daily basis. Need to be local to the Boston/Waltham, Massachusetts area, and enrolled at a local University.

Job Description Summary:

We are looking for a leader to join us as our Director of Software Engineering. This role will report to the President of the company and will be tasked with leading the Software Engineering Organization in developing embedded applications including:

• Provide leadership to internal as well as external engineering resources involved in embedded software development.
• Collaborate with other senior engineering staff for systems solutions to complex engineering.
• Manage teams consisting of engineers in Boxborough, MA and Shanghai China.
• Lead project execution including defining, evaluating, and evolving software engineering policies and procedures.
• Lead pre-sales and post-sales software engineering support for customers in China.
• Coordinate support from contracted suppliers in terms of technical interface, deliveries and project schedule.
• Participate in program reviews and oversee the planning, forecasting, and administering of budgets.
• Take responsibility for talent management including recruitment, performance management, training, and career development.

Key Qualifications:

• The successful candidate will have the aptitude to explore and master breakthrough technology.
• Track record of delivering production-quality software is a must.
• The candidate should also posses the leadership and communication skills necessary to represent Axis on matters of software with our customers and partners.
• Skills and experiences in managing multi-site engineering project involving teams in China are also required.

Basic Qualifications:

• A master degree in engineering and comprehensive knowledge in an engineering field is a must. A Ph.D in engineering with related experience preferred.
• Strong management and leadership credentials required.
• Proven track record of implementing and improving processes across an organization to deliver production-quality software with high level of reliability.
• Exceptional communication（both verbal and written）and analytical skills.
• Strategic leader capable of inspiring, motivating, and integrating a highly skilled group of software engineers challenged with developing and improving common processes and procedures.
