Recruiting Head of Research and Early Development China for Roche

I would like to speak with you about the Head, pRED China(pharmaceutical Research and Early Development)position for Roche based in Shanghai’s Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. This position will oversee the value chain spanning target identification through proof-of-concept and lead approximately 125 people in virology and oncology with some focus on liver. This position will be the chief executive of the Shanghai organization responsible for the scientific direction of the drug portfolio as well as the strategic direction and operations of the site. In addition, the Head of pRED China will be the administrative leader for global functions based in Shanghai including non-clinical safety, medicinal chemistry, discovery technology, CMC,early development, translational sciences and informatics. This executive will report directly to Roche's Global Head of Research and Early Development(based in Basel)and will be a member of Roche's Global Leadership Team for Pharmaceutical Res
earch and Early Development.
 
Our ideal candidate is an internationally recognized academician(preferably virologist or immunologist)at the Associate or full Professor level with strong leadership skills and fluent in both English and Mandarin. He/she will establish and manage collaborations with top academic institutions(mainly in China)and attract top scientifc talent to the organization during a period of significant growth. The candidate should have a breadth of multi-disciplinary experience from molecule to behavior systems and be able to lead new target drug discovery programs designed to develop new medicines. Most importantly, this executive will be a visionary leader, innovator and change agent with the ability to grow and manage a global organization. This person must be comfortable working in an environment with broad cultural diversity and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
