Join author Louise Su Tang to celebrate the book launch of Cantonese Yankee with an afternoon tea. Louise Su Tang will discuss and sign her new book Cantonese Yankee
Louise Su Tang comes to writing as a family archivist and political historian. In this historical novel, based on her family''''s singular history Tang opens a window on a forgotten moment of diplomacy between the U.S. and China. She recounts the story of her grandfather Kwong Bing Kong who along with 120 other boys was sent to the U.S. in 1872 by the Chinese government. Their education prepared them to help develop China into a modern society. Tang''''s book offers insightful views of the people, customs and traditions of late 19th century China. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Light refreshments.
