大型古裝豫劇《趙氏孤兒》 將於2010年1月23日星期天下午3時於PASADENA CITY COLLEGE Saxon theatre 隆重演出。本劇是國家舞台藝術精品工程十大精品劇目之首、由河南省文化廳廳長楊麗萍, 豫劇二團團長李樹健等領導帶隊,帶領全體隊員達50餘人, 不遠萬里, 在春節期間來到洛杉磯, 為華人父老相親獻上一場宏大的藝術盛宴。
此次演出是《趙氏孤兒》春節期間美國巡演的第一站，之後該團還將到OREGON、SAN FRANCISCO等地區為當地的華人鄉親進行慰問演出。這是河南省文化廳啟動的“藝術精品海外行”系列活動的重要內容。是河南豫劇大型劇目第一次赴美國演出，也是河南舞台藝術精品第一次登陸美國，為在美國展示當代河南文化形式帶了一個好頭。
《趙氏孤兒》雖然是第一次進入美國演出, 但早在2010年3月份在洛杉磯舉行的國際家庭電影節(International Family Film Festival)上, 勇奪<<最佳音樂獎>> (Best Musical) 。這是由《趙氏孤兒》原班人馬擔綱, 自戲曲改編的電影藝術形式, 為中國戲曲在國際舞台上贏得了殊榮。極大的方便了全世界的藝術愛好者來欣賞這個來自中國河南的藝術精品。
《趙氏孤兒》在中國是一個婦孺皆知的英雄故事—— 晉靈公武將屠岸賈（tu an gu）僅因其與忠臣趙盾不和與嫉妒趙盾之子趙朔身為駙馬，竟殺滅趙盾家300人，僅剩遺孤被程嬰所救出。屠岸賈下令將全國一月至半歲的嬰兒全部殺盡，以絕後患。 20年後，孤兒趙武長成，程嬰繪圖告之國仇家恨，遺孤趙武終報前仇。作品描寫了忠正與奸邪的矛盾衝突，揭露了權奸的兇殘本質，歌頌了為維護正義、捨己為人的高貴品質，氣勢悲壯，感人肺腑。
此次演出由美西河南同鄉會, 美中藝術家聯合會, 美國Sias國際集團(Sias International group)共同主辦——推介家鄉文化, 加強海外華人的凝聚力, 一起把河南豫劇, 河南文化推向世界。

It''s a village where everyone has all the luxury that life can offer such as a
huge house, a car (Beemers, Benzs, etc.), free cooking oil, clothes, healthcare,

All they have to do is work 7 days a week for the village industrial
operations, milling steel or some such industry.
