Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As Chinese New Year approaching, on the 20th of January 2011, we will have an 128CUTE round-table discussion meeting on the subject of "Preparing and Building an Innovative Business." I am pleased to introduce our long time friend, Dr. Peter Li as our discussion leader.
Dr. Li is currently CEO of Nexcelom Bioscience, http://www.nexcelom.com/, which develops and markets Cellometer® brand image-based cell counters and analysis systems for the life science market. Nexcelom Bioscience was honored as an Inc 500 Company in 2009, as one of the fastest growing private companies in America by Inc Magazine. Dr. Li has extensive product development and business experience in large and small companies, where he has contributed extensively both as a technology inventor and as an effective leader to commercialize technology-driven products. While working at 3M, Eastman Kodak, SRU Biosystems, and Nexcelom Bioscience, he many times took product ideas from invention and product design to production and commercialization. His past technical responsibilities included technical innovation, technology platform development, product design and testing, and manufacturing setup. With BS and PhD degrees in Physics from Peking University and Purdue University, respectively, Dr. Li became a productive innovator and prolific inventor with 33 issued US patents and more pending.

只想澄清和改正报道里经常看到的两点，以免误解：
（一）南方科技大学校长的遴选：评选委员会开过一次会，讨论了猎头公司筛选后提供的短名单，并没有看到过报道所说的“美国麻省理工学院一位院长和国内几所著名大学的校长”，也没有“经过几轮筛选和投票”。
（二）香港科技大学的开办经费：建造校园的经费来自政府，包括赛马会给政府的捐助，开支总额接近33亿港元。此外教研设备及一切设施，上至安全装置、下至杯盆碗筷，总共请求了13亿余港元，而政府所给的一次性拨款约是半数。开办经费总数乃约40亿港元，与报道所说的“当初香港政府拿出500亿港币建立基金会”，数字上差了十几倍。政府也从来没有为大学建立过基金会。

5th Annual International Conference on Mathematics, Statistics and Math Education, 13-16 June 2011, Athens, Greece
SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION
The Mathematics & Statistics Research Unit in collaboration with the Education Research Unit of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) will hold its 5th Annual International Conference in Athens, Greece, 13-16 June, 2011. The conference website is www.atiner.gr/mathematics.htm. The registration fee is 250 euro, covering access to all sessions, 2 lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. In addition a Greek night of entertainment, a dinner, a half-day tour to archaeological site in the Prefecture of Attica and a special one-day cruise in the Greek islands are organized at extra cost. Special arrangements will be made with local hotels for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate.
The conference is soliciting paper (in English only) from all areas of Mathematics, Statistics, Math Education and Stat Education. Selected (peer reviewed) papers will be published in a Special Volume of the Conference Proceedings. If you think that you can contribute, please send an abstract of about 300 words, via email only (atiner@atiner.gr), before 4th of February 2011. Please include: Title of Paper, Full Name (s), Current Position, Institutional Affiliation, an email address and at least 3 keywords that best describe the subject of your submission.
