NECINA is now seeking nominations for candidates to fill TWO board vacancies, each for a three-year term starting on July 1, 2010. A candidate must be a NECINA member in good standing. A candidate also must provide a written petition signed by 10 or more NECINA members. From among the eligible candidates, two directors will be elected at NECINA's upcoming annual meeting on June 5, 2010.
If you wish to nominate a member (or yourself) as a board candidate, please gather the signatures of at least 10 NECINA members using a petition form (download from necina website) and submit (1) the signed petition and (2) a short biography (not to exceed half a page) of the candidate to NECINA's legal counsel, Karen K. Chan, by fax (617-261-3175) or email (karen.chan@klgates.com) no later than June 1, 2010.
You can email karen.chan@klgates.com to obtain a Partition form.
*Only members who have paid their membership dues for the fiscal year 2010 are eligible to vote. If you are unsure of your membership status, please email membership@necina.org.

Join APEX for the 4th Annual Community Leaders Reception
"Civic Engagement for a New Generation: Why Get Involved? Why Stay Involved?"
Come and meet the current and future leaders of the community and hear the insights of people who work hard to improve all of our lives at APEX’s 4th Annual Community Leaders Reception. This year’s theme “Civic Engagement for a New Generation: Why Get Involved? Why Stay Involved?” was inspired by our desire to discuss why it is important to energize more Asian Pacific Americans to take an active interest in the issues and concerns facing the community and the nation.
We will be discussing ways that people can get involved, such as through political participation and civic volunteerism. We will also discuss why getting involved is not only important for a democratic society and for the community's welfare, but also important for personal development, such as through the development of leadership skills and contacts.
